Columbus Alexandria, VA 22314 00 Dear Dick: Enclosed are the results for the following samples in case 30 F: CAL Lab No. Sample Identification O O o 7720 7721 7722 30F-13 30F-14 30F-15 These samples *ere originally received as low concentration sediment samples, but the high concentration of compounds in the samples made it necessary to analyze all three as "medium" level samples. Once agatn l instrument time was lost due to this incorrect assignment of concentration levels. The VOA for sample 7720 was particularly alarming, as it looked almost like a standard mix, and contained both vinyl chloride and acro'iein, which we rarely find. In the base/neutral fraction, N-nitrosodiphenylamine was detected (below the detection limit) as diphenylamine. It should also be noted that all of the base/neutral fractions were concentraced to a final volume of 10 ml, based on the FID screening results. The pesticide fraction had higher detection limits (1 ^g/g for pesticides; 10 for PCB's) due to interferences which could not be removed by the different clean-up procedures. An interesting point is that the B/H fraction of samples 7721 and possibly 7722 appeared to have coal tar creosotes present, typified by high naphthalene and the presence of various polynucTears. If there are any questions, please give us a call. Sincerely, / A 3«t Paul A. Taylo, PhD President PAT M.1M*nr mrfhael J. MiiUe, PhD Director of GC/HS Services
