The HEWI S 01 product line is a complete system, which integratesmultiple product functions into a single, flat, vertical surface in eleva-tion. The result is washbasin, WC and shower modules with enclosed,fold-out functions. User's have easy access to the individual func-tions, but each is not visible until it can be folded down when nee-ded. As a long-standing specialist for barrierfree products, HEWIhas of course incorporated these universal aspects in the functionalscope of the S 01 system.

Design of surfaces, purist aesthetic standards, integration in the room– these trends have been taken into accountby HEWI in collaborationwith KSP Engel und Zimmermann Architekten, Cologne and NOAProduktdesign Aachen and have resulted in this innovative conceptfor sanitary facilities.

A symbiosis of linear design, complete universal function and indivi-dual use characterise the S 01 system, which offers totally newdesign elements with regard to walls for sanitary facilities.

Received the if product design award 2008 and the reddot product design 2008.

Based on the so-called "Gropius" or "Bauhaus lever handle", theFrench architect Robert Mallet-Stevens (1886-1945) developed thislever handle further in the 1920s for residential buildings in Paris.Constructed of round tubular steel, the lever collar and grip arenow mitre jointed at right-angles. This shape experienced a completerenaissance with its use in the new architecture museum building inFrankfurt.

HEWI has taken a good look at the "Frankfurter Modell" and hasderived a whole system from it:

· Complete range of door and window products with coordinated designs

· Three materials: polyamide, aluminium and stainless steel· For the first time ever, HEWI launches the "Frankfurter Modell" on

the market in pure white, black and anthracite grey synthetic material
