Dear System 1® User, In this issue of System 1 Tips and Tricks , we’ll show you how to set up System 1 Health Monitor. Health Monitor is installed on the same machine as the DAQ. Health Monitor improves the reliability of System 1 software. If the DAQ shuts down due to a malfunction or any fatal error, Health Monitor sends an e-mail notification to selected users to restart the DAQ. In addition, if the “Disable XML Notification” check box is cleared, Health Monitor creates an XML file to restart the DAQ. The Email and XML Notification is also sent in the following cases: Enterprise Data Server crashes. Auto Archiving is successful. Auto Archiving fails. We hope you enjoy this issue! Configuring System 1 Health Monitor

1 Health Monitor keeps track of the DAQ health. Health Monitor is installed on the same machine as the DAQ and starts functioning after you clear the “Disable Health Monitor” check box. The DAQ should be running continuously to get data into System 1 software. Open the Data Acquisition Connection Manager. You can double click on the System 1 icon in the task bar → Alternatively, click Start → Programs → System 1 → System 1 Data Acquisition.

Select a DAQ Server station. Right-click the selected DAQ Server station node, and click “DAQ Station Properties”. You have to have the proper security rights. Security rights are validated before you can view the DAQ Station properties.

Properties for the DAQ station are displayed after security rights are validated. To configure the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) Server, click the “Health Monitor” tab.

Click “New“.

In the SMTP Configuration dialog box, type the appropriate information in the “Server Name/IP Address”, “Port Number”, and “Sender's Email ID” fields to facilitate the notification.

7 Type the e-mail address of the recipient(s) in the Recipient's Email ID field. Clear “Disable Health Monitor” and “Disable Email Notification” check box. Note: You can configure to send the notification to multiple e-mail IDs. A semicolon (;) is used to separate the e-mail addresses. As an option, you can uncheck “Disable XML Notification” if you would like to enable this feature. Click “Apply” and “OK” to save your settings.

Some SMTP Servers need user authentication. To configure the Server with user authentication, select the Authentication check box, type the correct information in the “User Name”, “Password”, and “Confirm Password” fields. In the SMTP Configuration dialog box, 1 click “Verify and Save” to validate the Sender's Email ID and the SMTP Server information. A confirmation is sent if the configuration is correct. If the configuration is incorrect, appropriate error messages are displayed. OR, 2 click “Save” to save the SMTP configuration without validating the Sender's Email Id. The name of the SMTP server appears in the list.

DID YOU KNOW? With System1 version 6.75, which was released in April 2011, you can now generate a complete plot session for rotating machinery. This feature was implemented in an earlier version of System 1 for reciprocating machines. To create a Plot Session. Navigate to the machine train in the Enterprise Hierarchy and right click on the Machine Train. Select “Create Plot Set” and then select the type of plot session you want to create. You can select Current and/or Historical Values or Startup/Shutdown.
