European-funded project ends its secondyear on a high with 12,400 jobs createdDEPUTYMinister for Skills and Technol-ogy, Ken Skates, has welcomed latest fig-ures showing Jobs Growth Wales has nowcreated more than 12,400 job opportunities,with 9,700 young people filling these jobs.According to the monthly figures, the

European Social Fund backed programmehas also filled 523 job opportunitieswithin just one month – compared to 488 inMarch.The figures come as latest labour market

uty Minister said: “Over recent months,Wales has seen the largest drop in youthunemployment than anywhere else in theUK. Make no mistake, Jobs Growth Waleshas played its part in this.“Since April 2012, this programme has

helped nearly 10,000 young people into a

job opportunity with a real prospect oflong-term employment.“An 81 per cent success rate in the private

sector shows just how effective the pro-gramme has been in helping young peopleavoid spells of long-term unemployment.“That’s because these are value-added,

sustainable job opportunities that allowour young people to show what they arereally capable of.“Time and again, employers tell me just

how much of a difference hard-working,talented Jobs Growth Wales recruits havemade - both in terms of productivity andprospects for growth.“I am delighted that the programme is en-

tering into its third year in such a strongposition. Very soon we’ll have passed the10,000 mark in number of jobs filled andthat is definitely worth celebrating.”
