Road design is based on geometrical and pavement designGeometrical design is set for the lifetime of the roadPavement design incorporates certain maintenance actions along the life of the road structureFor pavement design roads are divided into four categories:

Category (A)- Road Class 1,2 – Freeway & Major ArterialCategory (B)- Road Class 3,4 – Minor arterials and collectorsCategory (C)- Road Calls 5(a), 5(b) – Residential access collectors and car parksCategory (D) – Road Class 5(b), 5(f)- Local access roads, loops, cul-de-sac etc
