Where we are now: Project twinning
Identify projects in the areas of climate action, raw materials and resource efficiency and establish communication
Call for interest for project clustering and twinning opening soon: www.sustain-eu-asean.eu
Clustering based on geographic and thematic focus, interest in involvement in the ASEAN region and usability and transferability of results,
Provide online platform for the networking of projects and knowledge management services.

Key objective: bring together waste prevention approaches and experiences from Vietnam and Germany (Both countries focus on avoidance of waste generation instead of end-of-pipe waste treatment. The framework conditions still differ significantly)
Expected benefit:
- improved waste prevention approaches and policies
- an innovative waste prevention concepts that brings together product design and production in the ASEAN region with consumption patterns in Europe as one of the major destinations for product exports

Proposed plan:
- face to face meetings (1 in Europe, 1 in Vietnam), both with an internal meeting and a second part with participation of 2-3 additional experts and policy makers from the specific countries/ regions
- site visits for some potential/typical partners from both projects
- draft research concept note for future research and collaboration
- draft paper to be submitted at a scientific conference

Key objectives: explore with the feasibility and applicability of creating a spin-off research project in Singapore and the ASEAN region and foster cooperation and knowledge transfer between the EU and ASEAN
Expected benefits:
- collaboration are to establish a connection
- FASUDIR Methodology will be further developed and adapted to other climate zones to reduce CO2 emissions and energy consumption of the existing building stock.
- strengthen mutual understanding and relationship

Proposed plan:
- physical meetings to start the joint collaboration.
- proposal draft will be fine-tuned and pending issues should be clarified, a detailed preliminary site investigation will be conducted at the selected project site
- funding will be used to enable a joint work flow between the partners and to foster a periodic communication

Expected benefits:
- advancement of visioning and backcasting methodologies as well as the development and implementation of roadmaps/action plans.
- foster a continuing dialogue and discussion between the two regions
- enhance mutual understanding of the various needs and challenges facing the regions.

Key objectives: expand networks to research partners particularly in Europe, particularly the SWAMP network by interacting with partners in Europe on methods, network building and data exchange, with expected benefits to both sides.
Expected benefits:
- make use of the offered granting opportunity to expand its networks to research partners particularly in Europe.
- learn from common problems, developing standardized methods, e.g. for faster, cheaper and reliable carbon and biodiversity estimation, and the broader questions of assessments of ecosystem services and of livelihoods.

21. April 202313
Proposed plan:
- visit (study tour) to Europe to explore research interactions with the mentioned partners, discuss methods, data, network building and the expansion of the respective networks into the SWAMP network and vice versa.
- deliverable will be the development of a report on possibilities for joint collaboration and network integration,
- another possible deliverable could be the development of a work plan and roadmap for the interaction and a plan joint fund raising to support the novel initiative with funds.

Key objectives: early warning systems constitute efficient and effective instruments to increase resilience to climate-related hazards.
Expected benefits:
- boost the value of early warning technology in the Philippines, most notably of the national weather radar and hydro-meteorological monitoring networks.
- make early warning a mainstream component of managing climate-related disaster risks
- increase the resilience of local communities and their ability to adapt to changes in climate-related hazards, reduce residual losses and damages
- bridge gaps between national and local adaptation planning

Key objectives: stimulate policy action in the ASEAN on resource efficiency and raw material management through transfer of knowledge and experiences from the European Union.
Expected benefits:
- enable the participating institutions to initiate evidence-based discussions on resource efficiency and raw material management
- spill over beyond the ASEAN by using ESCAP-facilitated platforms
- it is anticipated that there would be added benefits in terms of instigating broader action on resource efficiency issues in the academe and civil society spheres.
