From the Desk of Mr. Still:
STHS students, staff, and faculty are busier than ever with learning, extra‐curricular activities,
and athletics. Our students are some of the best and brightest in the area and we are Hanna
Proud of their commitment to excellence inside and outside of the classroom. Academically, we
are preparing students in Algebra 1, Biology, and English Language Arts for the upcoming
Keystone Exams, which will take place in May.
We have also completed student course requests. Student schedules are in the process of being
developed and will be distributed before the end of the school year.
On the performance stage, we have two opportunities to watch our students in action.

In addition, the African American Heritage program will present the student‐run program “A
Tour through African American History” on March 15th at 6pm.
The start of the spring athletic season is also just around the corner and we look forward to

Important Information from the English Department: Greetings from the English Department! As we roll in to March, we have many exciting projects in the works.
The ninth grade is deep into novel reading and analysis exploring such classics as "Night" by Elie Wiesel and "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding.
The 10th grade is working on a Poetry Slam presentation and utilizing Socratic Seminar to explore relevant topics for Slam Poetry, such as the Florida school shooting.
Our 11th grade is gearing up to present their argument essays where they have worked hard on crafting tight thesis statements, counter claims, and rebuttals.
Finally, 12th grade is writing and polishing their Senior Project papers to wrap up the final requirements for graduation.
Along with our core courses, our Creative Writing classes are wrapping up their portfolios and AP Literature is examining Adrienne Rich's "Diving Into The Wreck".
Important Information from the Mathematics Department:
Math classrooms have scientific and graphing calculators for students to borrow during
class. Calculators should remain in the classroom, unless the teacher has given
permission to sign one out.
Need a graphing calculator at home? o Desmos – has a free on‐line graphing calculator and an app.
o Wabbitemu – has a great non‐iphone app, which looks like a graphing calculator.
Algebra 1 Keystone Exam is just over two months away. Do you need review material? o Study Island – ask your teacher or guidance counselor to activate your account.
o Keystone Exam App‐ has practice questions. The app costs $0.99.
AP Calculus AB/BC & AP Statistics exams are just over two months away. Download the
review app now.
Looking Ahead April: Students will be taking CDT tests to prepare for Keystone Exams in May.
May: AP Exams are in May.
