Survival Terror

This game is inspired by and wants to re-create the same atmosphere of horror and tension seen in the immortal movie trilogy of zombies produced by George A. Romero. A trilogy recently enriched by a new chapter, Land of the Dead that will be the inspiration for an expansion of this game. The first thing to do is to recreate the board of the game. We do not want to use a fixed board, as to grant the maximum longevity to the product. The very original idea is to create the board each time using hexagons as a base element. We suggest you to print this page and cut the hexagon printed here on the side, that will be photocopied n times. We suggest you to photocopy 120 hexagons so as to compose a 10 x 12 map. Now, in order to decide the setting, roll 1d6 (one die with six faces) and consult the following chart: Dice Roll Setting 1-2 Rural house (Night of the Living Dead) 3-4 Shopping mall (Dawn of the Dead) 5-6 Underground military base (Day of the Dead) If you have followed the instructions you should have obtained the following results. If you rolled a 1 or 2, here it is the rural house:

This game is inspired by and wants to re-create the same atmosphere of horror and tension seen in the immortal movie trilogy of zombies produced by George A. Romero. A trilogy recently enriched by a new chapter, Land of the Dead that will be the inspiration for an expansion of this game. The first thing to do is to recreate the board of the game.We do not want to use a fixed board, as to grant the maximum longevity to the product. The very original idea is to create the board each time using hexagons as a base element. We suggest you to print this page and cut the hexagon printed here on the side, that will be photocopied n times.

We suggest you to photocopy 120 hexagons so as to compose a 10 x 12 map. Now, in order to decide the setting, roll 1d6 (one die with six faces) and consult the following chart:

Dice Roll Setting

1-2 Rural house (Night of the Living Dead)3-4 Shopping mall (Dawn of the Dead)5-6 Underground military base (Day of the Dead)

If you have followed the instructions you should have obtained the following results. If you rolled a 1 or 2, here it is the rural house:

If you rolled a 3 or 4 instead, or if you wanted to reproduce the exploits of the film “Dawn of the Dead” playing in the shopping mall:

Finally, if you rolled a 5 or 6 your military base should look like this:

At this point, take four dice with four, six, ten and twenty faces (1d4, 1d6, 1d10, 1d20) to create your character. You will have to determine her/his:

- Gender (roll a die: even is male, odd is female)- Height (5 feet plus 1/3 of foot per point on 1d4)- Weight (height divided three plus 6d10 pounds for men and 3d10 pounds for women)- Index of physical mass (if you know how to calculate it)- Hair color (roll 1d6: 1-black, 2-brown, 3-blond, 4-false blond, 5-red, 6-bald)- Annual income (5d20 thousand dollars).

It would be a good idea to write at least one page of background to aid you identifying better with your character. When you have written all these information on a piece of paper, you can do whatever you want of it, because they are not important for the game. Now you will have to establish the armament of your character. Roll 1d100 and consult the table corresponding to the scenery that you are playing.

00 Photonic phaser cannon with 2 kilotons plasma particles (unfortunately, it is unloaded)

At last you are ready to play.Place one counter that represents your character in the center of the map (a piece of hamburger goes well, considering the end that it is destined to) and put four counters that represent the zombies in the four corners (pieces of a hamburger that has some days suit well; moreover, with their smell, they contribute to the right atmosphere to the game).

Zombie movement and victory conditionsThe rules are simple: the zombies move four hexagons at each turn, as far as they can in the direction of the character. If they arrive in his/her hexagon, they eat him/her, and they have won.

Character movement and victory conditionsThe character moves at a speed of five hexagons per turn. He can win in two ways:1. By killing the zombies. In such a case, as you are not Bruce Lee, the hands are completely useless.2. By escaping from an edge of the map.

NoteOps, I was forgetting this fact. Exactly before the beginning of the game, your character (for the

Page 4: Survival Terror

sake of brevity, from here we will call him Johnpeterdormousethreadork) fell down and broke his leg. His movement is therefore reduced to one hexagon per turn.

And now, have a good time!
