State aid is available through the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) to SMEs who use qualifying testing, certification, training and knowledge services from TÜV SÜD Product Service. Who is eligible for MAS support? The MAS's services are available through approved suppliers to any company provided they are engaged in manufacturing in England regardless of size, but specifal funding is available to SMEs to reduce the cost of these services. The definition of manufacturing: According to the MAS Guidelines, "The modern definition of manufacturing is broad. The full cycle of activities from research, design and development, production, logistics, and service provision to end of life management." By taking this approach to defining manufacturing, it becomes easier to see that although an organisation may choose to outsource its production activities, it remains at heart a manufacturing company. •Product Conformance and Compliance:-Product testing-Product certification for international markets (CE Marking, FCC Certification, CCC Mark, etc)

•Training:-Training which relate to business or product improvement

•Knowledge Services-Advice on product design-Test plan review

Essentially...In order to get an application for funding approved, you must demonstrate that the work being carried out will contribute to significant business growth. MAS is here to support growth in England’s SME manufacturing sector – a project is much more likely to be approved if you can demonstrate potential for increased profits, new contracts or the creation of new jobs.
