Supplier Action Required for New Global Unit Label
As detailed on the December supplier notification letter from Packaging Engineering; FCSD is moving to a new Global label and new branded packaging materials for all unitized packaging. This will require suppliers shipping in unitized packaging to comply with these changes. This includes suppliers and packagers shipping direct to depots or direct to dealers. The changes include new graphics for the decorative folding cartons (Material Specification F-MFSER), small poly bags (F-MFPOLY), and container labels (F-MFLSER) for both the Ford and Motorcraft brands. The revised FCSD Package Material Specifications are available on the Supplier Packaging Information web site (http://web.pkginfo.ford.com).
Immediate Action Required by T-role Suppliers
In addition to changing to a Global label, FCSD is also changing label suppliers. The current supplier, Whitlam Label, is in the process of exhausting their inventory and there for suppliers must change over to the new supplier CCL and material as soon as possible. Failure to comply with the actions listed below may result in suppliers inability to meet existing FCSD supply requirements.
Suppliers need to set up an account with the new label supplier CCL as soon as possible and order samples. The new label will include a new 2D bar code with additional data requirements. The Ford Customer Service Division has provided a label validation process to assist service suppliers shipping in unitized boxes to generate an accurate 2D label. This validation process is required by all T-role and direct ship suppliers in order to be ready for the April transition to the new global label. The six step process is detailed below.
Attention Supplier Quality Managers
Failure to follow this process could result in use of incorrect labels with misleading information and product rejections. Suppliers following this process will be given consideration should a label issue occur. Additional training for the transition to the new label is provided at http://web.pkginfo.ford.com.

Samples should be prepared and sent immediately. Once you receive confirmation and feedback from PE regarding acceptability of samples (2 weeks after receipt) suppliers can ship using the new packaging materials once all your old packaging materials have been exhausted.
Please Note: Labels from packaging materials displaying prior graphics as supplied from Whitlam Label Company cannot be used after April 1, 2017. Also, you cannot mix old labels with new containers or polybags. Nor can you mix new labels with old containers and poly bags. If you are packaging using the old materials, you must display the part nomenclature in the old format but if you are packaging using the new materials you must display the part nomenclature and bar codes in the new format with 2D code.
New Material Numbers for Decorative Cartons, Poly bags and Labels
In conjunction with the new GSPPS system, a new intelligent container/label numbering convention is being launched. The existing numbers for the individual decorative folding cartons (F-MFSER), decorative poly bags (FMFPOLY), and container labels (F-MFLSER) will all be replaced as detailed in the referenced Material Specifications.
Examples of the numbering changes are shown in the table below. Individual packaging specifications will not be revised to these new numbers until the new GSPPS system is launched later this year, and once packaging specifications are changed to the new numbers you will be allowed to use the old materials without the need for packaging deviations until inventories of your old packaging materials are exhausted.
