Module 14

The purpose of this module is to inform FCSD’s supplier partners of our packaging requirements (as outlined in Ford’s Global Terms and Conditions, FCSD Packaging and Shipping Guide, and individual service part packaging specifications).

supplier initiated packaging changes

M Role Manufacturing Site(Manufactures parts to be shipped to a contract Packager)

P Role Packaging Site(Unitizes/Packages parts and kits forservice use)

T Role Total Supplier(Manufactures and unitizes parts for service use)

Verify your Supplier Role

**(Please refer to FCSD Packaging and Shipping Guide –Sections 5-8 for more information on supplier roles)

M Role – The Manufacturer of Record ships stock in bulk packaging to FCSD’s designated Contract Packager.

M-Role Supplier is responsible to “Package to Protect” parts from:

◦ Becoming soiled and dirty during transit◦ Corrosion (for 30 days)◦ Transit damage◦ Requirements found in the FCSD Packaging and

Shipping Guide (Section 5)

P Role – Package and label parts and kits as specified by the Packaging Specification found in GSPPS or Packaging Website.

P-Role Supplier’s responsibility includes:

o Verify part’s ID and quality for rust and damage

o Packaging is adequate to protect during stowage, transportation and storage at depots

o Assist develop and improve Packaging Specifications (GSPPS).

o Refer to the FCSD Packaging and Shipping Guide, Section 6, for all Packager Role requirements

T Role – The “Total Supplier” site is responsible for both Manufacturing and Unitized Packaging of Service Parts.

T-Role “Total Suppliers” are held to the same strict FCSD packaging and labeling specifications as Packagers (refer P Role Slide).

Note: Refer to the FCSD Packaging Guide, Section 7, for detailed instructions.

SDS Role – The “Ship Direct Supplier” site has same role

as ‘T Role’ except this site ship direct to Ford Dealers

instead of FCSD Depts.

SDS-Role (Direct Ship Suppliers) are held to the same

strict FCSD packaging and labeling specifications as

Packagers (refer to P Role Slide).

Note: Refer to the FCSD Packaging Guide, Section 8, for detailed

instructions.

Packaging and Shipping Guide

The FCSD Packaging & Shipping Guide provides general packaging guidelines for all FCSD Suppliers, whereas the FCSD Packaging Specification provides the exact packaging requirements for a particular service part.

All unit packaging must be labeled in compliance with the FCSD Package Material Specifications (see Package Material Specification PRINT, F-MFLSER, F-MFSER, F-MFPOLY, L26/ML26, L1522, L1569 and L1582).

Packaging Specifications

Use the GSPPS Website to enter or modify Packaging Specifications.

All Direct Ship Suppliers, Total Suppliers and Packagers are Responsible to Maintain Packaging Specification for each Service Part and Kit.

For NEW Parts or Kits - Total Suppliers and Packagers ‘build’ packaging specifications using GSPPS website.

All subsequent Packaging changes due to improvements or availability of material must also be submitted using GSPPS website. Suppliers Must receive confirmation of approval PRIOR to shipping.

All Direct Ship Suppliers, Total Suppliers and Packagers MUST have an APPROVED complete Packaging Specification entered into the GSPPS System PRIOR TO SHIPPING.
