CASB 2015 Counselling for Supernumerary Seats

On the directions from MHRD Govt. of India, Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) -

2015 is hereby announcing Supernumerary round of counselling for Union Territories (UTs) of

Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep & Kandvi and Andaman & Nicobar

Islands. The details of supernumerary round are detailed below:

1. Eligibility of candidates for Supernumerary round of Seat Allotment

Following candidates are eligible for seats under Home State supernumerary quota at the

respective allotted NITs.

i. The candidates having their State code of eligibility as per Business rule of JoSAA 2015 or as not i f ied for UTs/ as per their class XII certificate/ mark

sheet

AND

i. Candidates who did not get a seat till 4th round. OR ii. Candidates who did not report against an allotment in earlier round. OR iii. Candidates who reported against allotted seat to RC or PI but seat was cancelled

due to change in category and are still un-allotted. OR

iv. Candidates who have reported against allotment of JoSAA 2015 but did not report to the allotted Institute till 28

th July, 2015 5 PM for academic Session 2015-16

2. Schedule of Supernumerary Round

3. Rules for Initial Fee i. For students who have not deposited initial fee of Rs 40,000/- in any of the previous

rounds and are applying

a) need not pay the initial fee at the time of registration.

ii. For students who have deposited initial fee of Rs 40,000/- in any of the previous rounds and are applying for Supernumerary need not pay the initial fee as their earlier fee paid

will be considered for this purpose.

4. Fee to be paid at the allotted institute

Candidates who have been allotted a seat in Supernumerary round ,

i. if have deposited the initial fee of Rs 40,000/-, will have to pay the balance fee (Institute fee - 40,000/-) at the time of reporting to the allotted institute.

ii. if have not deposited the initial fee, will have to pay the whole institute fee at the time of reporting to the allotted institute.

5. Rules for refund of initial fee Candidates who remit seat acceptance fee and do not report in a reporting centre will be

treated as rejecting the offer. The seat will be cancelled. Such candidates may seek

refund of seat acceptance fee through the JoSAA portal after the completion of the

supernumerary round. Seat acceptance fee, once paid, is not refundable except when the

candidate does not report in person at a reporting center after paying seat acceptance fee.

6. Rules of Allotment of seats in Supernumerary Round & Reporting

i. All eligible candidates as mentioned above under section -1 have choice to

participate in Supernumerary round.

ii. Candidates are permitted to fill choices for all the branches as available in the

published seat matrix (mentioned in section 8 below). However, allotment will

be made only for balance number of seats (after deducting seats filled in normal

course of allotment Home State quota from the total supernumerary seats for that

UT).

For example: There are 33 Supernumerary seats for Lakshadweep. Say, till 4th

round, 10 candidates from Lakshadweep have got admission in NIT Goa in Home

State quota. Out of these 10 students, say, 4 candidates decide to withdraw from

NIT Goa seat, resulting only 6 students from Lakshadweep retaining their seats in

NIT Calicut. Hence 27 (33 - 6) seats will be allocated in NIT Calicut for students of

Lakshadweep according to their AIR.

iii. All allotments will be made as per the merit based on Category Rank only. iv. After the seat allotment, candidate can directly report to the allotted institute, get the

documents verified, pay fee and take admission.

v. The rules regarding category, PwD, Age, State of Eligibility, Qualifications, Original documents, restrictions etc. are the same as those specified in Business Rules of

JoSAA-2015
