Sunrise English Pvt School organized its 23rd
Annual
Sports Meet on 23rd
and 24th
of November 2011 with
great enthusiasm at the Armed Forces Officers
Club Stadium, Abu Dhabi. Physical activity is as essential
as the intellectual growth for the all-round development
of the child, as the saying goes “A healthy mind needs a
healthy body”.
PRINCIPAL’S CORNER
Dear Parents, Welcome to our first edition of monthly electronic news magazine. This effort to reach you periodically with updates of events and activities taking place in Sunrise English Private School, where your precious one is being taken care of for his/her overall development, is part of our continued effort to achieve excellence in education. Sunrise in its 23 year old journey has reached the level of one of the most sought- after Indian schools in Abu Dhabi due to the earnest efforts of its dedicated team of teachers and whole hearted support of the management. We take pride in presenting our students fully prepared for the CBSE examinations and are happy with the results thereafter. The present gesture is the first step towards a series of innovative ideas in education that are intended to be implemented in future with the involvement and contributions of our students. DAY BEGUN WITH THE RECITATION OF THE
HOLY QURAN BY NABEEL OF GRADE-VIII
After the prayer, the school song and the UAE National
Anthem were presented by the school choir.
OATH
In order to excel one must be completely dedicated to
one’s chosen field. Our student’s council took Oath
with dedication and sportsmanship.
LIGHTING THE TORCH
The torch is the symbol of harmony, goodwill,
peace and human achievement. Chief Guest
Captain Abdulla lighted the torch. Our Head Boy
passed the torch to the Captains of the four houses.
After this event, The Principal declared the sports meet open.
STUDENTS PARTICIPATED in different Track and
Field events with great enthusiasm and sportsman spirit.
MARCH PAST
Our Head Boy Geo John Mathews led the parade
accompanied by the Head Girl Salimah Hasnah and
they were followed by the Assistant Head Boy Aditya
Govind and Assistant Head Girl Pratikshya Mohanty.
The students representing four houses - Emerald, Ruby,
Sapphire and Topaz clad in their traditional colours of
Green, Red, Blue and Yellow respectively presented a
well disciplined and co-ordinated march past which was
highly appreciated by the Chief Guest and other guests.
The 1st position for March past was shared by two
houses; the Energetic Emerald and the Imperial
Topas.2nd
position was bagged by Super Sapphire. And
the 3rd
prize went to Royal Ruby house. The result was
announced by the Principal and the trophies were given
by the Guest of Honour Mr. Mohd. Al Shalan to the
winning houses
DRILL DISPLAY Students of the sub junior group displayed the drill in
their colourful uniform with beautiful formations like
flowers and rainbow.
WINNER HOUSE
Emerald secured the highest points, Topaz secured
2nd
highest points, Ruby was 3rd
and Sapphire was the
4th in the over- all medals tally.
To encourage and appreciate the students the
Principal, the Vice-Principal, the Head Mistress, and
the Supervisors were present on the occasion and
presented the medals and trophies to the winners.
Vice Principal Mrs. Sheela John, Head Mistress
Mrs.Sheela Swaminath, the Supervisors, Mrs. Shaji
Rajaratnam, Mrs Annamma Chacko, Mrs.Susan Babu,
Mrs.Anita Krishna Kumar, Mrs Suja Thomas, Mrs Ann
Felix and all the teachers of the Sunrise coordinated the
event with dedication and perfection.

Almarai sponsored refreshments to all the students
and staff during the sports meet.
Traditional Arabic dance was performed by the
girls and boys of grade VII and VIII.
SPIRIT OF THE UNION - UAE AT 40
4Oth UAE National Day was celebrated in our
school with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.
Various cultural programmes were presented by
our students to express our gratitude and respect to
the United Arab Emirates on its 40th birthday.

PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
Teens India competition organized at Al
Maali Pvt school on 18th Nov 2011 On the occasion of 40
th anniversary of the UAE
National Day, students were honoured with awards
for competitions in which they had participated in the
month of November.
1. DRAMA: Our students bagged the 1st prize in
Drama competition under the guidance of our
English Master Mr Sajjad.
2. PENCIL DRAWING: Aishwara Siddarth of
grade XI secured 2nd
position and Neena Sussanna
Thomas of grade XII secured 3rd
position.
3. TALENT EXAM: In Talent Exam Anirudh
Pisharam of grade VIII bagged the 2nd
place.
4. ESSAY WRITING: Karunya Manoharan of
grade XI secured 2nd
position for Essay Writing.
5. A.D.University SPELLING BEE CONTEST: Ten
students are selected for final round.
The Principal, the Vice Principal and the Head
Mistress cut a cake made in shape of the UAE
national flag on this occasion.
10TH
TOPPERS Students of Grade X, who secured A1 grades
in all the subjects of the CBSE March 2011
Board examination were honoured with
certificates and mementos.
PRINCIPAL ‘S MESSAGE ON THE UAE
NATIONAL DAY
The Principal praised and congratulated
UAE on its completion of 40 years of its union
and highlighted the role of Indians here. Indians
constitute the majority of expat community.
Hence we are indebted to be grateful to this
Nation and its rulers and do everything possible
to sustain the warmth and cordiality of our
relationship with UAE.

FANCY DRESS COMPETITION FOR KG
SECTION
On 15th
November our school organized Fancy
dress competition for kinder garten section. All
the students participated with excitement. The
day was full of fun for our little angels.

Children's Day Celebration
On 14th November the school celebrated
Children’s Day with great pomp and show. Students performed various cultural programmes
The day was started with songs presented by the
students of the KG section. One of our student was dressed as Pt. Jawaharlal
Nehru.
Our hon'ble Principal Mr. P.Rajendran also shares
his birthday with Chacha Nehru. He addressed the
assembly and expressed his feelings.
Students of grade V danced to a patriotic song.
Selected dance groups also performed on the stage.
Students also shared their feelings for Chacha
Nehru on the stage in English as well as in Hindi.
Prize Distribution Inter- school Sports winners were given prizes.
Sunrise school grabbed the 1st prize in the Inter
school football tournament. After the prize
distribution chocolates were distributed to the
children on the occasion of Children’s Day.
ECOS ,our environment club,under the leadership
Of Dr.Manu Kamaljith organised a GO GREEN
campaign,where the children made paper bags out
of old newspaper and distributed it to the groceries
nearby, which was highly appreciated by EAD.
Other Events and Activities
Brain Hunt Quiz: On 2
nd of November two students
of grade XI Sylvester and Ayush participated in this
quiz at Dubai.
ADIS---Badminton Championship: Our badminton
teams of boys (Abhay, Shiffin & Fayas) secured 2nd
position and girls (Treesa, Neethu & Anu) grabbed the
3rd
position in UAE in the CBSE cluster sports meet.
Quiz Competition--Organized by Bharathiya
Vidhya Bhavan’s: On 3rd
November Aditya Krishna
of grade IV and Abel Soman Mathew of grade VII
bagged the third position.
Painting Competition at Our Own School, Abu
Dhabi: On the3rd
of November, six students
participated.
KG Yellow Day: KG Section organized Yellow Day
on 13th November. All the staff and the students of KG
were arrayed in bright yellow.
ADACH--- Painting Competition: On 14th
November on the occasion of Children’ Day, nine of
our students participated in a painting competition
organized by Indian Embassy Abu Dhabi,
Secured 1st Place in Senior category (Pharis Shajeer)
and 2nd
Place in Junior category (Tiwin)
DPS Dubai---- Football Tournament: On 21st
November our football team participated in the
football tournament organized by DPS Dubai.
Inter School Declamation Competition: On 30th
November four of our students participated in the
Inter School Declamation Competition held at Indian
Islahi Islamic School, Abu Dhabi. Linda Charly K.
of grade XI bagged the 1st prize in the Girls senior
category and also the overall Girls Championship
trophy along with Nikita Nath.
Workshop and Seminars
ADEC: On 15th November Our senior faculty
members Mrs. Susan Babu and Mr.
Nujumudeen attended a seminar organized
by ADEC.
ADEC-- Seminar for Supervisors: On 18th
November all the Supervisors of our school
attended the seminar organized by ADEC.
AD Environment Agency-on-Mangrove: On
21st Mrs. Wajeeda Bano attended a workshop
conducted by AD Environment Agency on
“Mangrove” and its importance in coastal
areas.
Conducting a Survey: On 22nd
of November,
Mrs. Amrita Banerjee and five girl students of
grade X attended a workshop on “Conducting a
Survey” at Al Mamoora building.
Paperless Day- The Environment club co-
ordinator Dr. Manu Kamaljith organized a
paperless day campaign along with students.
SRM University: On 27th of Nov. our students
of grade XII attended \a seminar on “Career
Guidance” conducted by SRM University.
ADEC : On 29th Nov. Mrs. Amrita Banerjee
and Mr. Sajadh KV attended a seminar at
Brighton College conducted by ADEC.
Dr, Tharaka Rani, Clinical child
Psychologist: Our 12th graders attended a
seminar by Dr.Tharaka Rani on Coping with
Examination Stress etc and various other related
problems .
