Baptism & Church Membership Baptism? If wish to consider baptism for yourself or your child, please fill out a pew card, or speak to

one of the ministers, or notify the Church Office. The next opportunity for baptism is scheduled for

Sunday December 16.

Church membership: There are various ways to become a full member of ERMUC and of the

United Church of Canada: 1) baptism and profession off faith (confirmation); 2) letter or certificate of

transfer from another United Church or other faith community that practices baptism and

confirmation; 3) clear assurance (where no letter of transfer is available) of baptism and profession of

faith; 4) re-instatement of membership that may have been removed from the active roll following

several years of non-involvement. To indicate your desire to be included in this significant expression

of your faith in action or to request more information, please fill out a pew card, speak to Wayne or

Jean, or notify the church office of your interest.

New Revenue Opportunities at ERMUC

1.) You may have noticed the Cerebral Palsy blue bin for clothing in the corner of our parking lot

over the past few months. Feel free to drop off your gently used clothing to the bin. It is a

great win-win opportunity for us and CP. We receive a monthly rental income and 100% of net

proceeds raised from the clothing go directly to support The Ontario Federation for Cerebral

Palsy charity.

2.) Between now and Dec 31, you may also see the Otter Creek Farms Food Truck using our lot.

Again, this is another great trial opportunity for ERMUC. We are renting the space to Otter

Creek (owned by the Cook family) on a short-term basis and they will sell their burgers, fries,

etc. Their schedule will be dependant on our schedule and the weather, but if you see them out

there, feel free to drop on by and grab a bite. You will be supporting a local farmer/vendor…and

supporting another rental opportunity at ERMUC.

3.) We still have office space to rent. If you or someone you know are looking for office space,

please follow up with Tanya in the office.

As always, should you have any questions, concerns or comments, please contact Tanya in the

office.

Partners in Mission Food Bank Autumn leaves are falling and the shelves at Partners in Mission Food Bank are nearly

bare. The need for high protein food: (canned meats, fish, beans, meat sauces , pasta,

hearty soups) increases with the colder weather. Please consider those less fortunate as

we all do what we can to help.

Thank you, Neighborhood Needs Team.

OASIS TIME (a small group primarily for working and parenting women). Next meeting dates: Mondays Dec 3 and Jan 7

in the Upper Room, 7-9 pm.

Updates & Other News …

Tree of Warmth

Our Tree of Warmth is now up in the Welcome Centre. With weather like we have had lately, we are looking for warm items: scarves, mitts, socks and hats to help keep some of the less fortunate in our area warm. These items can be homemade or purchased anytime and be placed on our tree in the Welcome Center. Thank you – Your Neighbourhood Needs Team

Iglésia Bautista Emmanuel Scholarship Fund (ERMUC’s Twin Church) Over the next few weeks we’ll be again asking people to contribute to a fund that supports low-income families who want their children to attend the Collégio Bautista Emmanuel, a wonderful little school in the San Jaciento neighbourhood of San Salvador operated by our partner church, Iglésia Bautista Emmanuel. People who have been to San Salvador will be contacted, but everyone is encouraged to consider supporting this outreach, approved by our Church Council. Last year we transferred $4000 USD into the church’s bank account. It would be great to think that we could improve on that this year! If interested, please speak to Gordon Sinclair or Jean Stairs for more information. Contributions can be made by: putting your donation in clearly marked envelopes, at the church office, on the Sunday collection plate, via debit/credit in the Welcome Centre (be sure to mark a copy of your receipt with your name and “Scholarship Fund” before dropping it in the grey box), or via e-transfer to [email protected] Please note, if using e-transfer, be sure to send the office a second email with your name and confirming that you wish those funds to be used for the Scholarship Fund.

Don't forget to make the "perfect" Christmas gift" by grabbing a gift acknowledgment card from our church office (or Jean) that you can enclose with your Christmas Card, acknowledging that you have made a donation in someone’s honour to support the Colegio Bautista Emmanuel Scholarship Program

TODAY is the last one in November for you to order your FUNDSCRIP SHOPPING / GIFT CARDS. Order forms are in the Welcome Centre, with help if needed to fill them in.

Pay Face Value with cash, cheque, charge or debit for your own purchases or gifts. There are more than 225 retailers for which cards can be bought… restaurants, toys, clothing, gas, groceries, department stores, home, office & more! Pick up your cards next Sunday or at the church during office hours after that. December orders will go in December 9 for delivery December 16.
