Your Christmas Card Message: Everyone is invited to share their message of Hope and Joy for the
Christmas season on a new or used Christmas card as your way of adding another layer of warmth to
our decorated trees. Let’s see how the many colours of Christmas brighten up our spirits. We will hole
punch the corners for you and have a ribbon ready to tie.
As you are sorting through your Christmas decorations, there may be some that need to find a new
home. Consider donating them to our decorating team, preferably shatterproof. We appreciate the
recent donations from Ruth Allum as they adorn the church this blessed season.

2017 tax receipts. Any contributions received after 12pm Dec 29 will be allotted for 2018.
2018 BOXED ENVELOPES ARE AT THE BACK OF THE SANCTUARY

Team will meet in the Upper Room for the first of 2 or 3 sessions to begin preparing for this
important ministry. This first get-together will involve some group building, affirming the gifts we
bring to the team, identifying the congregation’s pastoral care needs to which such a team might
appropriately respond, discussing the importance of confidentiality, boundaries, the “ifs” and “whens”
of referrals and the necessity of obtaining a CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) check.
Anyone who feels called to this ministry and is willing to be involved in preparation sessions is
welcome to attend.
WELLNESS WALKING continues this Thursday, then pauses for the Christmas break. It
will then resume, Thursday January 11, 9-10am with Social Time following in the Welcome
Centre. 8 loops in the sanctuary = 1 Km. Walk to meditative music and a suggested
mantra for the day.
Fellowship Breakfast – Jan 28/18 Warm fellowship and tasty breakfasts occur on the 4th Sunday of every month from
September through May (except for December). Breakfast is served at 8 a.m. for a mere $3.00 (kids eat free!) followed by a guest speaker from our congregation or community
sharing a bit about themselves and what they do to contribute to our church, community or world. On Sunday, January 28/18 we get to meet and hear from one of ERMUC’s own, Dr.
Kristin McLeod. Kristin is a Case Manager with Addiction and Mental Health Services, KFLA. Her presentation will focus on community mental health and addiction rehabilitation
with provincial offenders. It would help in planning breakfast if you would indicate your intentions to [email protected]. All are welcome.

Colegio Bautista Emmanuel (CBE) scholarship program The Council of Elders, at its meeting May 23, gave its approval for our church to support this fantastic little school in San Salvador and its scholarship program. These scholarships provide an opportunity for children and young people from the poorest part of the city to attend a very good school and experience the hope of a promising future. The school is one of several programs operated by the Iglesia Bautista Emmanuel (Emmanuel Baptist Church), which is twinned with us here at Edith Rankin. $200 USD ($255 CDN) pays for an elementary school child to attend for one year. $300 USD ($383 CDN) pays for a high school student to attend for one year $500 USD ($640 CDN) pays for a university student to attend for one year The amounts above are the costs per student to attend. Use this as a guide to your giving, but don’t be restricted by it. Any amount donated will be appreciated and will be sent directly to San Salvador in time for their second school term. An opportunity to support this wonderful program will be provided over the next several Sundays. Special grey-coloured offering envelopes will be available for you to use
Don't forget to make the "perfect" Christmas gift" by grabbing a gift card from our church office (or Jean) that you can enclose with your Christmas Card, acknowledging that you have made a donation in their honour to support the Colegio Bautista Emmanuel Scholarship Program
