“Thankful” Foster ... David Michael MooteSomedays, we forget to look around us, somedays, we can’t see the joy that surrounds us, so caught up inside ourselves, we take when we should give, so for tonight we pray for, what we know can be, and on this day we hope for, what we still can’t see, it’s up to us, to be the change, and even though we all can still do more, there’s so much to be thankful for, look beyond ourselves, there’s so much sorrow, it’s way to late to say, I’ll cry tomorrow. Each of us must find our truth, it’s so long overdue, so for tonight we pray for, what we know can be, and everyday, we hope for, what we still can’t see, it’s up to us, to be the change, and even though we all can still do more, there’s so much to be thankful for, even with our differences, there is a place we’re all connected, each of us can find each others light, so for tonight, we pray for what we know can be, and on this day, we hope for, what we still can’t see, it’s up to us, to be the change, and even though this world needs so much more there’s so much to be thankful for.

SCRIPTURE Psalm 8 ... Christopher WilsonO Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have founded a bulwark because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? Yet you have made them a little lower than God, and crowned them with glory and honor. You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

BAPTISM SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15 - 9:15 AMIn the United Church of Canada, we believe that baptism is baptism into the Body of Christ, into the Church Universal, not into the United Church of Canada or Timothy Eaton Memorial Church. It means these children formally are received into the Church Universal, entering a life long journey of faith as part of the family of God. On their behalf, their parents affirm their faith in God and willingness to bring up these children in the knowledge and love of God, teaching them about the Christian faith. Our church, Timothy Eaton Memorial, in turn promises to support these children with constant love, wholesome example, Christian teaching and faithful prayer. We are holding our autumn baptism service at 9:15 on Sunday, Oct. 15. Please contact Sonya Swainsbury if you would like to have your child baptized during the service.

AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF OUR CHILDRENDo you remember that one special person from your childhood who made all the difference, who reached out to you, who believed in you, who showed you kindness and cared for you? For many of us, that one person was a Sunday School teacher! Would you like the chance to be that one special person in the life of a child (or many children) from our community of faith? Our Sunday School during the 9:15 service has an immediate need for Sunday School teachers, and we’d like to ask everyone in our congregation to consider whether you might have the gift of time and love to give to the children. The curriculum is very user-friendly, and requires very little preparation time or Bible knowledge (in fact, teachers often say they learn as much about the Bible as the children do!). We’d like to have enough volunteers for each classroom to have a team of teachers, to allow for a rotating teaching schedule, so please volunteer even if you are not able to be here every single Sunday. For more information, contact Edmee Nataprawira at [email protected], or The Rev. Lorraine Hill at [email protected].

In advance of preparing Xmas food hampers, the OCTOBER Food of the Month donation is CANNED SALMON.Plastic grocery bags are needed at this time. Visit us at our website [email protected] for more information or to donate.

The dates for the 2017 Food drive are October 28 (flyer distribution) and November 4 (food item pickup and sorting). Both volunteers and donations are needed. On behalf of the clients, volunteers at the COTH Foodbank, thank you for your support. .

TEMC CHOIR SCHOOL RETREATThe TEMC Choir School was thrilled to enjoy our very first choir retreat. Last weekend, our young singers participated in intensive music rehearsals, a concert featuring our tutors and staff, and many fun activities. With frozen yogurt, karaoke, and an evening movie night, all

kids had a great time. Some choristers even slept over at the church! The retreat was a great success. Thank you to all participating tutors and parent volunteers!
