Sermon Notes

I. What is/are the Scripture passage(s) used in the sermon?

II. What is the Theme of the sermon?

III. What problems does the sermon address?

IV. What is God’s solution to the problem?

V. How does the message apply to you?

Take Home Devotion Opening Prayer: Risen Savior, You have called us Your people, One Church, redeemed in Your death and resurrection. Help us to love each other, and bear with one other, that Your Spirit of peace may be seen among us. In Your name we pray, Amen.

Scripture reading: Ephesians 4:1-6

Discussion Questions: 1) Who is somebody that you just cannot stand right now? What about them is so bothersome to you?

2) What efforts have you made to reach out in love to this individual?

3) After re-reading the Scripture reading, why does Paul encourage us to seek peace and unity amongst ourselves?

4) Now, read Ephesians 5:1-2, how would that apply to our reading from Ephesians 4:1-6? Family Activity: We are often told to encourage and build each other up. This is a great thing to do! But sometimes, we forget our own sinfulness and how it might affect others. What is something you can work on personally to be more loving to your family, friends or neighbors, and as part of the One Body of Christ, make it easier to bear with one another, and encourage a spirit of peace and unity? This week, take some time to consider ways you might offend others or make them angry, and pray for forgiveness and the Spirit’s strength to change.
