Greetings! The time to register your child for summer enrichment activities has arrived. After months of diligent planning, we are extremely excited to showcase a summer program as diverse and accommodating as our breathtaking 30 acre lakeside campus.

At Summers @ Lausanne, our goal remains to provide your child with engaging and enjoyable experiences which allow for substantial academic, athletic, social and emotional growth. We place great care and effort into offering the very best in instruction by providing children with opportunities in which they can discover untapped strengths and nurture new friendships all under the supervision of a well trained staff.

We believe that you will find our summer program to be specifically designed to offer your child a full range of activities which cater to his or her own personal interests. If, however, you should discover an activity that you believe is missing from our program, please let us know as we will be more than happy to try and integrate it into our afterschool and summer programming options.

Horse Riding (JK–12th)May 27–July 11 (9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)Mary MielenzLesson Registration Fee: $50Camp Registration Fee: $300/weekMary provides private and group riding les-sons in the basics of classic riding principals and horsemanship on her farm in Collierville, Tennessee. In addition to providing weekly les-sons, she offers camps designed to help young riders develop a strong foundation on which to build future skills and success. Camps are held Mondays–Fridays from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Space is limited, so please enroll at least one week in advance. Horses are suitable to all riding levels. Not only will children gain instruction on all four Olympic events—floor, uneven bars, balance beam and vault, they will be able to do things seen on televi-sion. Yes, our children can do it too! are often overwhelmed by external stimuli. This workshop will introduce mindfulness prac-tices that can help students find balance, focus their attention and relax in the classroom and in everyday life. Beginning at 7:30 a.m. each morning, a wholesome breakfast is provided for all participants at the Blue Heron Café.

CPR/First Aid Certification (5th–12th) June 26–June 27 (9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)American Red Cross Association and Summers @ Lausanne StaffRegistration Fee: $85, CPR/First Aid, onlyTogether we will strengthen community safety and gain new skills that you can carry into the future. Participants will receive training in a familiar and supportive environment, an American Red Cross training handbook and access to all digital refreshers. Yoga (JK–12th) Summers @ Lausanne is partnering with local yoga instructors to offer a healthy, fun filled way for kids to enjoy a non-competitive fitness activity that provides a stronger, more flexible body. Available dates and times to come.

Daily and Weekly Lessons

All Roads Lead to China (JK–12th)May 27–May 30 (9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)Confucius Institute at The University of Memphis (CIUM)Registration fee: $200This is an opportunity for children to experi-ence the wonderful culture of China while strengthening their Chinese language skills. Children will participate in Chinese martial arts, Chinese cooking, Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting, and much more! All Confucius Insti-tute instructors teach full-time and are some of the best Chinese language teachers in China.

Musical Theater Boot Camp (3rd–12th)June 2–6 (9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.)Confucius Institute at The University of Memphis (CIUM)Registration DEADLINE: May 3, 2014

Registration fee: $300, Junior (3rd & 4th) and Senior Company Performers (5th–8th)$100, Apprentice Arts (7th–12th)Join us this summer for the return of Musical Theater Boot Camp! Children will present an entire musical show complete with costumes, lights and sets, all in one week! Regardless of your child’s experience level, they’ll receive voice lessons, dance and drama lessons, audition opportunities and so much more! It’s all part of the full day rehearsal process. Junior and Senior Company Performers take an active role on stage during the production, while Apprentice Artists learn through hands-on experience about providing a supporting role in theater.

Please support Summers @ Lausanne by watching the final production at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014 in the Elder Performance Arts Center (EPAC). Friends and family are welcome to join you.

A $100 enrollment deposit per child is needed at the time of registration and is applied toward full tuition.Chess makes you smarter in a fun, exciting and challenging environment! Mid-South Chess Camp is the country’s Premier Chess Camp, features some of the world’s best chess players including International Grandmaster Alexander Stripunsky, International Grandmaster Alex Onischuk, International Grandmaster Joel Ben-jamin, Women’s Grandmaster Anna Sharevich, International Master Teddy Coleman, Cuban Expert Alain Cierna Rodriguez, MM Andre Duvall, and more. All instructors are active and experienced chess coaches who enjoy sharing their chess strategies with the next generation.

This camp is designed for all ages and all levels, beginners to experienced players. Each camper will be taught by every instructor on a rotating basis and counselors will remain with each group throughout the day. There will be optional and supervised sports breaks. Camp includes a T-shirt, group photo, daily souvenir, trophy, autographed certificate and entry to a tournament following the camp. To learn or improve your chess, THIS IS THE CAMP!!!

Open house, orientation, and a simul all begin at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, June 9 at the Elder Per-forming Arts Center.

This week will involve creative storytelling, cardboard sword crafting, a legendary on-cam-pus scavenger hunt and a field trip to see How to Train Your Dragon 2!

Wilderness Week June 23–June 27 (1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.)Registration Fee: $98Come discover our backyard! What better way is there to showcase Lausanne’s gorgeous cam-pus than to spend the week fishing and canoe-ing on the banks of our very own Blue Heron Lake? Children will meet with a local naturalist and learn exciting facts about a wide variety of plants and animals that can be found right under our noses.

Lausanne Family Picnic June 28 (10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.)Registration Fees: $5, Family Rate: Parent + child

$20, Child Rate: If a parent is not in attendance, Summers @ Lausanne will provide a chaperone.It’s time to see a side of Lausanne you haven’t seen before. Just bring your picnic basket full of your favorites and we will provide the fun! Enjoy canoeing and fishing on Blue Heron Lake, fantastic company and leisurely games and even a classic watermelon eating contest.

Night @ the Museum July 11–July 12 (6:15 p.m.–11:00 a.m.)Registration Fees: $50, Family Rate: Parent + child

$65, Child Rate: If a parent is not in attendance, Summers @ Lausanne will provide a chaperone.Have you ever wondered if museum exhibits truly come alive in the night? Come debunk the legends for yourself as we spend the night at Memphis’ own Pink Palace Museum! Everyone will enjoy a scavenger hunt through the exhibits, planetarium show, 3D film and theater presentation presented by the Pink Palace Museum Education Department. Summers @ Lausanne will provide plenty of time for museum exploration, socialization, an evening snack and hearty breakfast to all participants. We will welcome slumber as we roll out our sleeping bags in the galleries, so bring your flashlight and prepare for a memorable Night @ the Museum. All attendees must register with Summers @ Lausanne.

We’ll learn about elephants, hippos, rhinos and more. Safari Sensation will entail an exciting scavenger hunt for supplies, whimsical animal masks and more. This expe-dition isn’t for the faint at heart, for this is the place where little ROARS get their start!

Begin-ning after lunch children will enjoy countless games, unique crafts and outdoor time on our beautiful 30 acre campus. Throughout Camp Lausanne, children will participate in stimulat-ing and educational weekly themes, all the while developing new and exciting friendships with fellow campers. Together we will head into the kitchen and practice the tools of the culinary trade, includ-ing cooking and dining etiquette. Best of all, we will learn how to make healthy and deli-cious choices at meal times!

Where The Wild Things ArtJune 16–June 20 (9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)Shelli OwensRegistration Fee: $150Let the wild rumpus begin! Children will create artwork based on individual interpretation of the popular children’s book, “Where the Wild Things Are.” Together we will practice the art of collage and print-making, hand-draw imagi-native monsters, construct 3-D sculptures and create countless other beautiful keepsakes.

How Does Your Garden Grow?June 23–June 27 (9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)Peggy BoatwrightRegistration Fee: $135Prepare to get your hands dirty in this wonder-ful camp for budding gardeners! Learn how plants grow and practice your gardening skills while looking, feeling, smelling, listening and even tasting your way through the exciting aspects of gardening. At the end of the week, take home a little garden of your very own!

A Week with American Girl (SK only)June 23–June 27 (9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)Whitney RobertsonRegistration Fee: $150Each American Girl Doll offers an inspiring story which teaches children about relation-ships as well as history. Children will practice their nurturing and care-giving skills through doll play and the creation of delicious doll-sized treats and props. No matter your doll’s brand, all are welcome to join. On Friday, June 27, 2014 participants will celebrate A Week with American Girl with a classic tea party!

SuperheroJune 30–July 3 (9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.)Bricks4KidsRegistration Fee: $150Come and explore the famous caped crusaders and discover their super powers! Children will create a thrilling fantasy world and protect it against fantastical arch enemies with custom, handmade LEGO-brick contraptions. Children will even receive their own personal mini-figure!

At Lausanne Collegiate School, our summer program is designed to offer your child a full range of activities with his or her interests in mind. We put extensive care and work into of-fering the very best instruction to children en-rolled in all aspects of our summer program. In order to keep the quality of our program high, the following policies have been set in place:

Enrollment ProceduresTo register your child, the Summers @ Laus-anne forms and fees must be completed online at www.lausanneschool.com/summer prior to the first day of camp. Online payments may be

submitted by credit card. Payments by check are due on

campus by June 1 for all June sessions and July 1 for

all July sessions. Please include your child’s name and the course title on your check.

Courses are available to all and are filled based upon registration status. Registration will continue to process until the Friday prior to the course offering.

Registration must be submitted by Friday, May 7, 2014 in order to receive the Combination Program Fee Discount.

ConfirmationA confirmation email will be sent once registra-tion is received. Course location, schedules and supply lists are available on the summer program website.

CancellationsCamp courses are contingent on enrollment. If a course fails to meet minimum enrollment, it may be cancelled. In this case, Summers @ Lausanne will contact the parent of the en-rolled child to choose an alternative course. If no alternative is chosen the parent will receive a full refund.

TransfersParents may transfer children from one course to another, space permitting. If a child wishes to transfer a parent must notify Summers @ Lausanne 5 business days or more before the course in which they were originally enrolled begins.

Missed ProgramThere will be no make-up sessions for any missed small group lessons, all day courses, morning session courses or afternoon session courses. No refunds or credits will be granted.

WithdrawalDue to our small course sizes and financial commitments toward materials for our campers, the following withdrawal polices will apply:1. Full refund if withdrawn by May 23, 2014.2. If the parent cancels 7 days or more before the

camp course begins he/she will be charged a materials fee. Material fees are dependent upon course selection.

3. No refund if the parent withdraws the child 6 days or less before the camp course begins.

Summers @ Lausanne Program PoliciesDrop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures

Drop-Off: MondaysAll children arriving for any course offered dur-ing the morning session or afternoon session MUST be checked in at the front office located in the Tanner (Lower School) Building. No exceptions will be made.

Drop-Off: Tuesday–FridayAll children arriving for any course offered in the morning session may report directly to their instructor.

All children arriving for any course in the afternoon session must report to the front office located in the Tanner (Lower School) Building.

Pick-Up: Monday–Friday (12 p.m. & 4 p.m.)All children will be dismissed to the Lower School Carpool Loop which is located around the playground area at Tanner. Carpool Tags

are mandatory.

Pick-Up: AfterCare (4 p.m.–6 p.m.)All children must be signed out by a parent or guardian in the front office of the Tanner (Lower School) Building.

Pick-Up: Late FeesThe following Late Pick-Up Fees will apply to morning session, afternoon session and aftercare:First Late Pick-Up: Fee WaivedSecond Late Pick-Up: Fee of $1 per minute, per childAll Late Pick-Ups Thereafter: Fee of $5 per minute, per child*ALL late pick-up fees must be paid in full on the day they are incurred.

All children attending both morning and afternoon

sessions will be escorted between sessions by an instructor.

If a child is enrolled in only the morning session is checked into the afternoon session by a parent or guardian, a fee of $25 will be assessed. This fee is to be paid in full the day it is incurred.

Please call 901-591-1177 in advance if you know you will be late so that we may still ex-pect your child to attend.

Early Pick-Up or Late ArrivalPlease come to the front office in the Tanner (Lower School) Building to sign your child in or out. Instructors will not dismiss children to parents or guardians directly.

Absence ReportsTo report an absence, please call 901-591-1177. When leaving a message, please include your child’s name and the title of the camp so the instructor may be notified.

Participation Policies

Participant ExpectationsWe expect every child attending any Lausanne Collegiate School summer activity to adhere to the school’s procedures and standards of behavior. Summers @ Lausanne reserves the right to require the withdrawal of any child from summer programming due to disruption. No refunds are awarded for withdrawal result-ing from disciplinary concerns.

Electronics & Other Personal ItemsCell phones are allowed on campus during summer programming but must be kept out of sight at all times and may only be used to place a call or receive a text regarding pick up from summer programs. No iPods, iPads or other electronics are allowed during Summer Pro-grams. Summers @ Lausanne is not responsible for any lost or stolen personal items brought onto campus.

Rising PK–SK: Potty-TrainingChildren MUST be fully potty-trained before attending any Lausanne Collegiate School pro-gram. Should a child need assistance, a parent or guardian will be contacted by Summers @ Lausanne to pick-up your child.

MedicationWe must have parent/guardian consent and a physician’s order to administer prescription medication. Over the-counter medications require parental consent. This consent must be in written form and on record in the front office of the Tanner (Lower School) Building. Written parent and physician authorization must be renewed annually. For all medication, the most current, appropriately-labeled origi-nal container must be provided. If the child receives prescription medication from more than one physician, each physician must pro-vide written permission. All medication must be maintained in the front office and adminis-tered according to label instructions and at the discretion of the summer staff. If it is necessary for the child to retain possession of medication (i.e., inhalers), the procedure must be dis-cussed with the summer staff. The medication request must be in writing. A written Asthma Action Plan, to address emergencies and care of asthma while in school, must be included. Please do not send any medication with your child to keep in his or her backpack or pocket for self-administration. This policy is for the safety of all our children and we appreciate your cooperation in the matter.

Allergies & Medical ConditionsIt is extremely important that Summers @ Laus-anne be made aware of any allergies or medical conditions that may affect your child. You must provide all information and medications neces-sary to ensure your child’s safety.

Food Policies

Nut-Free CampusLausanne Collegiate School is a PEANUT-free campus. Any lunches and snacks brought to Summers @ Lausanne must be PEANUT-free.

LunchLunch is provided to all-day attendees only. Due to budget constraints, all other program participants will be ineligible from partaking in dining services from Summers @ Lausanne.

Blue Heron CaféService at the Blue Heron Café may be en-joyed by anyone on campus. Please use your preferred credit/debit card or cash. The Blue Heron Cafe will not be able to charge AR ac-counts between May 27–July 25, 2014.
