Payment PolicyMake payments at the College on the day you register. Payment may be made by cash, check, MasterCard, Visa or Discover. Check or money order should be made payable to “CCC.” Students owing the College money, library books or �nes will not be allowed to register until all debts are settled. Registration is not �nal until payment is made in full or other satisfactory payment arrangements have been made. Any student paying with a check that is not honored by a banking institution will be subject to being deregistered and will be obligated to pay a returned check fee of $25. The student will be given ten calendar days to make restitution with cash or a bank money order. If payment is not received within ten calendar days, the student will be deregistered and not permitted to return to class.

Final PaymentReturning students who pre-register for the Spring 2011 semester must pay all Tuition and Fees by December 10, 2010. Students not paying all tuition and fees by this date may be “deregistered” (removed from the registration list).

To assure that students are adequately prepared for college-level courses, basic skills placement test must be taken prior to registration. The results of these tests are used by the college sta¬ to place students into appropriate courses. Students whose native language is other than English must take an ESL (English-as-a-Second Language) test. Exemptions from testing are detailed in appropriate material prior to each semester.

General InformationFree and Convenient Parking for

Credit-Free Students

Parking for Capital Community College is in the

Morgan Street Garage, located at 155 Morgan

Street, directly behind the college (green glass

windows). Students taking credit courses need to

visit the parking garage office to obtain a parking

access card (see page 5). Students taking Credit-

Free Courses should bring their parking ticket to the

College for validation.

The garage is run by the Hartford Parking Authority.

Handicap-access is available. Directions to the

Morgan Street Parking Garage From Interstate 84

East (from West Hartford, Farmington, etc.) Take

Exit 50 (Main St.). At third traffic light, turn right onto

Market St. Take first left onto Talcott St., then first

left into Garage entrance. From Interstate 84 West

(from East Hartford, Manchester, Route 2, etc.) Take

Exit 50 (Main St.). At bottom of ramp, turn left onto

Market St. Take second left onto Talcott St., then first

left into Garage entrance. From Interstate 91 North

Admission and Registration Summer 2011

1. Submit an Application for Admission (NEW STUDENTS)

Visit the Admission Office to learn how to submit an application. Visiting students can apply as Non-Degree students with no additional documentation

needed. Non-Degree students are not eligible for Financial Aid. Once you have been admitted to CCC, you will be e-mailed a Student ID number and will

be eligible to register for courses.

2. Set up your myCommNet Account & Register for Classes Go to myCommNet: http://my.commnet.edu. Your NetID is your 8-digit student ID number followed by @ccc.commnet.edu – If you have never logged into myCommNet before, your password is:

o 1st three characters of birth month (with first letter capitalized) o Ampersand character - & o Last 4 digits of Social Security Number o You will be forced to change your password and set a security question the first

time you logon. Visit the Registrar’s Office for myCommNet course schedule & registration instructions. If the course you wish to register for has a pre-requisite, you must provide evidence of

having met the requirement to the Counseling Office before your registration will be permitted. If needed, submit a Pre-Requisite Waiver Request along with unofficial transcripts to the Counseling Office.

Once registered, print your “Student Detail Schedule.”

Representatives from the Morgan Street Garage will be in the college lobby before the semester begins. Visit the Garage Office all other times. Bring your Student Detail Schedule, Driver’s License and License Plate Number

with you.

6. Request a U-Pass All eligible CCC students receive a University Pass, or U-Pass, a semester-long bus pass

that gives Capital students unlimited access to CT Transit local bus service. Pick up your U-Pass from the Business Office (Room 217A).

Pell Grants for Summer 2011Students who are currently receiving a 2010-2011 PELL GRANT may be eligible

to receive this grant for summer courses!

Please visit us at the Financial Aid Office or contact us by

E-mail: [email protected] to see if you qualify.

Your eligibility for the Summer 2011 Pell Grant will be determined after your Spring

2011 grades are officially posted. Once an award is made, it will be available to you

on www.my.commnet.edu. You will receive notification at that time.

Note: Your Pell Grant may not cover all of your tuition and fees. If it doesn’t, you

will be responsible for the balance. If you withdraw from summer courses, you

jeopardize your eligibility.

Check with the Financial Aid Office before deciding to withdraw.

Senior CitizensTuition and some fees, including the registration fee, are waived for persons 62 years of age or older. Special fees and tuition for Extension Programs and Courses (“Continuing Education”) are not waived. Senior citizens currently enrolled will receive registration information in the mail. Seniors new to Capital must fill out an application at the 2nd floor Welcome Center and then contact Marilyn Goodman at 860-906-5123 to complete the process.

Immunization InformationFOR CREDIT STUDENTS:

If you were born after December 31, 1956, Connecticut state law requires that all NEW full-time degree seeking, full-time non-degree/non-matriculating, and part-time degree seeking students enrolled in colleges or universities be adequately protected against Measles, Mumps, Rubella (German Measles) and Varicella (Chicken Pox). *

Any one of the following documents presented to the Enrollment Services is acceptable:

• Two (2) doses of each vaccine administered at least one (1) month apart• Blood titer test results that document immunity to MMRV• A physician’s certi�cation that immunization would be harmful to you • A signed statement that immunization is against your religious beliefs

* Students born before January 1, 1980 are exempt from providing proof against Varicella but are required to provide Measles, Mumps and Rubella immunization information.

Please use the MMRV Form provided by the Enrollment Services O¢ce or a signed form from your physician’s o¢ce.

Special NeedsStudents who have special needs or who are disabled must self-identify and provide documentation of their specific disability to a counselor. This must be done at least 60 days prior to the start of the course. This will allow the College to make an effort to accommodate special needs students. VeteransThe federal government o«ers a wide variety of services to veterans through the Department of Veterans A«airs. The College is approved for training of veterans’ education bene�ts by the Connecticut Department of Higher Education. See page 34 for information on the Veterans Drop-In Center.

If you were born after December 31, 1956, Connecticut state law requires that all NEW full-time degree seeking, full-time non-degree/non-matriculating, and part-time degree seeking students enrolled in colleges or universities be adequately protected against Measles, Mumps, Rubella (German Measles) and Varicella (Chicken Pox). *

Any one of the following documents presented to the Enrollment Services is acceptable:

• Two (2) doses of each vaccine administered at least one (1) month apart• Blood titer test results that document immunity to MMRV• A physician’s certi�cation that immunization would be harmful to you • A signed statement that immunization is against your religious beliefs
