Volunteers and Sponsors The Summer Lunch Program is an opportunity for us to be Christ in the world. For the program to be a success, the Outreach Committee needs volunteers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day to help with setting up, facilitating the daily activity/program, giving out lunches, supervising the kids, and cleaning-up afterwards. The more people we can get to volunteer, the easier (and more fun) it will be for everyone. We also need financial sponsors – while the kids are free, adults who come with them have to pay $3.00. That may not sound like a lot, but it’s more than many can afford. To volunteer or to make a donation, please visit www.goodshepherdrmt.org or contact Good Shepherd at 252.422.1134. Summer Lunch Program During the school year, 22 million children receive free or reduced-priced meals through the National School Lunch Program. When school is out during the summer months, however, only 2.7 million receive free or reduced-price meals through the USDA Summer Food Service Program. By participating in this program, we at Good Shepherd can make a difference and help lower the number of hungry children in Rocky Mount. This sort of outreach is what Good Shepherd is all about: it’s our history and legacy.
