August Activities
Worship and Music Summer Sunday Worship Schedule: Join us for the Summer Chapel Service at 8:30 a.m.,
Worship Service at 9:30 (sanctuary) and Emerge service at 11:30 (sanctuary). Emerge Outside Worship: Sunday, August 14 (weather permitting) Blessing of the Animals: Saturday, August 6, 10:00 a.m., church lawn. Explorations Sharing: Sunday, August 7. Taizé Service: Restore your soul among the candles and soothing music on Wednesday, August 10, 7:30 p.m., in Potter Chapel. The service takes less than an hour. Blessing of the School Year: Sunday, August 14. Concert on the Lawn: Sunday, August 14, 6:00 p.m.
Fun and Fellowship Back-to-School Bowling: Saturday, August 20, 4-6:00 p.m.
Classes and Christian Education “Explorations” is our summer program for 4th, 5th & 6th graders, August 1-4. Contact Ashley
Mills for more information. Sunday School: Classes for youth and children resume with a Sunday School Open House
on Sunday, August 21.
Service and Mission Riverside Sewing Guild: Wed., August 3, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., offsite (Riverside Hospital). Friendship Dinner Community Meal: Thursday, August 18, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Fellowship Hall. Mat Ministry for the Homeless: Help us crochet or knit waterproof sleeping mats for the
homeless! Join our “Plarn Party” on Wednesday, August 17, 1:00-4:00 p.m., in Dixon Lounge! Bring your lunch and stay as long as you like!
New Life Clothing Room: Join volunteers from WUMC every Tuesday, 9:00-11:00 a.m., at New Life UMC, 25 W. Fifth Avenue.
Bags of Blessings: Pick up your bag any time during the month, and return it on Sunday, August 28 with your donations for Worthington Resource Pantry.
NNEMAP, volunteer in the food pantry: Mon., Wed., Fri., 9:00 a.m.-noon. Gates-Fourth UMC: Help serve breakfast on Saturday, August 27. Meet at WUMC at 8:00
a.m. to carpool to Gates-Fourth. Operation Sandwich: Bring simple, individually-wrapped sandwiches to the refrigerator
downstairs on any Sunday or by 10:00 a.m. any Monday morning, to feed the homeless.

Classes and Christian Education No Sunday School classes for children and youth. Open Door Class: Readings and conversations about religions, ethics and spiritual journeys. Becoming Well-Versed Class: Study the scripture passage used in the day’s worship. VBS (Evening Vacation Bible School): nday-Friday, June 20-24, 5:30-8:30 p.m.! Cost is
$25 per child with a max of $40 per family, and includes dinner for the whole family! VBS is for kids who are in preschool (age 3 by 9/30/2015) up to 3rd grade. Contact Ashley Mills

fun fellowship time while we transform donated plastic shopping bags into “plarn” to be crocheted or knitted into protective sleeping mats for the homeless.
Friendship Dinner Community Meal: Thursday, June 16, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Fellowship Hall. Invite someone you know could use a good, home-cooked (completely free) meal.

Program with missionary visitor: Esther Gitobu, a missionary serving with the Cambodia Mission will be itinerating in the West Ohio Annual Conference and will be here on Wednesday, June 29th at 2:00 pm for a program. Please feel free to invite your friends to this event. It will be informative of our UM Ministry in Cambodia.
