Initial Research

• Once we had decided our initial idea, we researched into unnatural horror movies that focused around cult, human sacrifice and religion.

• We liked the film “The Wicker Man” as a film that we could research in to for creative ideas. However, when I came to look at the film poster and the website, I could not find them due to it being such an old film.

• Because of this, I looked into another film that we had looked at, “Silent Hill”. This film is about an isolated town and so links closely to our idea. When I looked at the poster and website I really liked the style and so I decided to fill out the codes and conventions based on this research.

What can I conclude from this research?

• The research that I have done into this poster is conventional of the horror genre as it has dark colours and unusual editing styles.

• I will use this research in the production of my poster by thinking about using a simple picture that could be edited to look more sinister and unreal.
