Foreword

In the Name of the Beloved, the Compassionate and the Merciful.

From the beginning of time, humans have sought knowledge of healing.

It’s the view of the Sufi Pir (master), Mir Mahmoud Hadian, also theMaster of Sufi Saint Healing, that we are in a crucial time for humanityand our survival as human beings really depends upon our individual willto balance ourselves.

Today, you can read any newspaper and see the horror and tragedy takingplace in our world. Despite high profile campaigns and people’senormous charity, nothing has changed. Look at the starvation, War andmany other issues which need urgent healing through our actions.

We don’t advocate that you protest on the streets. If you make yourself abetter person, by reaching toward what humanity can potentially be, theimpact of that ripples out around you, both to people and to theenvironment. We cannot change the world but we can change ourselves. As human beings, we have that responsibility upon us and we are alsoresponsible for each other.

Knowledge is surfacing that was previously known only to Saints andmasters – carefully guarded secrets that were passed on from generationto generation. To say that this knowledge is something new is notcorrect, it is just time for it to come out and be available to all who areseeking.

All that you have seen or heard or known,is not even the beginning of what you must know.

- Attar (Sufi poet)

We have to emphasise that Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) is not our ideaor creation, not even the name. We are only here as servants, trying toexplain the healing in worldly terms to those who are seeking.

If you are really seeking, then put aside your preconceived ideas andexperience Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) for what it is. Only throughexperience can you gain knowledge.

Ya Hu.

Please read the manual thoroughly prior to your attunement.

SUFI REIKI (SUFI SAINTS HEALING)

Important points are highlighted throughout the manual in this manner. Please ensure that you pay particular attention to these notes.

What is Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing)?

Hands-on healing is now widely accepted as a means to reduce physical andemotional stress within the body and its organs. Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing)is a highly dynamic hands-on healing system that continues to evolve. It isapplied to the whole human energy field and promotes healing on afundamentally deeper level than conventional methods allow. Sufi Reiki (SufiSaints Healing) is about experience. It takes time and practice to become aneffective channel for healing energy.

How does it work?

By requesting and accepting attunement, an individual can gradually establish adirect connection with the Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) system, through theMaster. As the individual progresses through the levels, that connection becomesstronger and the healing manifestation becomes more profound.

To better explain, a worldly analogy would be the distribution of energy from apower generating station. If Beloved is the power station, the Saints areneighbourhood sub-stations and all creatures including humans are consumers.Your home is connected to the sub-stations which in turn get energy from thepower stations. If the energy of the power station came straight to your home, itwould be damaging but through those sub-stations, it is changed and filtered to alevel that you can benefit from it.

What can I do with Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing)?

Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) can cleanse, heal, expand and help you onphysical, emotional, psychological and spiritual levels. Those receiving treatmentoften experience profound outcomes although the emphasis is upon self-awareness and not necessarily physical miracles. The healing energy will go towherever it is most needed, not necessarily toward tackling physical ailments.Unconscious or subconscious psychological or emotional matters may takeprecedence and in some cases those could be the underlying cause of physicalsymptoms.

Where does Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) come from?

Sufi Healing has been discreetly practiced for over one thousand years.Traditionally it was kept secret and passed down through successive generationsof teachers and masters.

Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) was revealed trough a series of visions to thepresent Master and is an entirely new approach to ancient Sufi Healing.

SUFI REIKI (SUFI SAINTS HEALING) (Contd.)

Who are the Sufi Saints?

Traditionally, healing was the practice of Saints and those performing the miracleof healing. They were recognised as Saints, either during their life or after theirdeath.

Saints are those that have reached a state of Union in which their will and actionare aligned with Beloved’s will. Sainthood is not achieved by an individual’sspiritual work but is gifted by the Beloved. Some Saints are even unaware oftheir role and that they are submitted to the service of Humanity. Sufi’s are thosewho are striving to taste that state of Union.

You can read more about The Mir Sufi Path at www.mirsufi.org.

How does a person learn Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing)?

There are seven levels and this course manual is for Level One.

In addition to reading the course manual, you must request attunement.Attunement is the process of connecting you to Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing)and takes approx. 15 minutes. Attunement can be given in person or at distance(these are equally effective). During the attunement, both you and the teacherconcentrate on the attunement process.

After attunement, there are a series of cleansing exercises and self-healingtechniques that should be practiced for a specific term. Once completed, you canrequest attunement to the next level.

THE HUMAN ENERGY SYSTEM

Overview

The human energy system is a vast and complicated subject with thousands ofbooks written about it. At Level One, you need only to be familiar with some ofthe terms. We don’t recommend getting into detail at this stage, instead, concentrate on the cleansing.

Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) Level Three is devoted entirely to the humanenergy system (it is an informational level, without attunement or cleansing).

Aura

The aura comprises several coloured layers around the body, some following thebody’s contours while others form the shape of an oval. Most teachings refer toseven layers but there are nine layers to the human aura. Non-living objects alsohave auras.

Chakras

Chakras are energy centres in the aura that allow the movement of energy intoand out of the aura. Chakras may be open or closed (partially or fully), accordingto the individual. They rotate clockwise or anti-clockwise depending uponwhether energy is being pushed out or pulled in. There are seven primarychakras though in all there are a staggering 88,000 chakras in the aura.

Kundalini

Kundalini is an energy situated at the base of the spine that activates the chakras.Through practices such as Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing), Kundalini graduallyflows and activates the chakras, expanding the consciousness of the individual.

Latif

Latif are unseen points of perception that encompass the non-physical aspects ofour being, such as our mind and intuition – all of which can be healed. Workingwith Latif is not comparable to working with chakras and until recently, Latif wasa secret of the Sufi path known only to a few Sufi masters. There are nine Latif.

Latif are covered at Level Five and are the jewel in Sufi Reiki (Sufi SaintsHealing).

Application of Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing)

Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) works with all aspects of the human energysystem – the aura, chakras, kundalini and Latif – to an extent that depends uponwhich level is being practiced.

VISUALISATION OF the Pir (Master)

Page 14: Sufi Reiki First Degree Manual

Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) – Level One www.sufireiki.org

- 14 -

Visualise when you seek assistance or whenever you begin a treatment,

Whenever you begin a cleansing or treatment, begin by calling upon the Belovedfor assistance and protection. . Remember the universe contains both positiveand negative energy, therefore protection is very important.

Visualise the Pir, Mir Mahmoud Hadian, as he is the channel, which can providea connection to the element of absolute energy, at a frequency that is suitable foryou. This is also to assist you to have a focal concentration. The more youpractice the visualisation, the easier it becomes and you will gradually develop anawareness of the energy assisting you. This technique can also greatly assist withmeditation.

You may wish to keep a picture of The Pir where you practice Sufi Reiki (SufiSaints Healing), to assist with visualisation and to serve as a reminder. For yourconvenience, the back page contains photograph that can be cut out andmounted in a picture frame.

During the treatment, try to visualise a brilliant light coming from The Pir intoyour crown (the top of your head) and out through your hands, into your body. The more you practice the visualisation, the easier it becomes and you willgradually develop an awareness of the energy assisting you.

Sometimes, people question why it is necessary to visualise the face ofThe Pir (Master). This ancient Sufi story highlights why visualisation isimportant.

A seeker planned to make pilgrimage to a holy city far away (a focal pointin his religion) and asked a great teacher for his prayer and protection forthe arduous journey. The teacher told him that should he come underattack on the journey, he should call the teachers’ name and help would beat hand. Sure enough, the convoy the man was travelling in was attackedone night. In desperation, he cried out, “God! God! God” but nothinghappened. He thought for a moment then cried out the teachers’ name. The man was saved. Though he was grateful, he was troubled; why didGod not save him?

After the long journey back home, he met again with the great teacher. Hetold him of the journey, the attack and how he had called out his name. Heasked the teacher why God had not helped him. The teacher replied, “Youremember Him when you are only in trouble. I remember Him continuouslyand hence calling my name He assisted you.”

ATTUNEMENT

Requirements & Pre-Requisites

The requirements for attunement exist only to facilitate your experience. Pleasedo not proceed with the attunement unless you are prepared to meet with therequirements. Following attunement, your responsibilities would be as follows:

3) Keep and share a journal with your teacher, following your attunement, recording noticeable changes in your mood, attitude, energy andenvironment during the cleansing process

4) Inform your teacher of any symptoms, dreams or visions so that he/shecan help you to understand and resolve issues that arise; this is veryimportant

If you do not share your journal, we cannot assist you. It is part ofdeveloping your experience that journals should be discussed. Even ifyou think nothing is happening, maintain weekly contact with yourteacher.

ATTUNEMENT (Contd.)

Preparation for Attunement

It is very important to read this information prior to receiving theattunement. Preparation will help you to fully experience the attunement.

The following steps are recommended to prepare for the attunement:

1) Perform physical cleansing and try to keep a clean state for attunement.Physical cleansing is explained in the section Cleansing – PhysicalCleansing later in the manual.

2) Offer a prayer with the intention of receiving attunement and humblyrequesting progress. Then make yourself comfortable sitting on a cushion oron a chair and make sure you will be free of interruptions for the duration ofyour attunement.

3) Meditate for 10-15 minutes prior to receiving the attunement, longer if youcan. If you have not done meditation before, follow the instructions in theCleansing – Meditation section later in the manual. Close your eyes (if youwant to), concentrate on the Pir and focus on your breathing in and out(don’t force it; just observe your natural breathing).

Page 18: Sufi Reiki First Degree Manual

ATTUNEMENT (Contd.)

During the Attunement

For the Level One attunement, three chakras are attuned to Sufi Reiki (Sufi SaintsHealing); these are the heart, base and sacral chakras. The first two layers of youraura (those closest to your body) are also attuned and your kundalini energy willbe raised

During the attunement you may experience visual symbols, colours, physical oremotional sensations. Observe whatever comes up, acknowledge it but keepyour concentration focused on receiving the attunement.

During the attunement, try to relax and observe what is coming to you.If you get distracted, focus on your breathing and visualise thePir.

After the Attunement

Immediately write down your experience, whatever you can remember. Relax, drink plenty of water and give yourself time to get grounded again. Let yourteacher know of your attunement experience.

CLEANSING

Overview

Regardless of the attunement experience, the attunement only facilitates the startof the cleansing. Therefore, it’s your application of the cleansing that determineshow much Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) will assist you.

Embarking on the cleansing

Following attunement, perform the cleansing for a total of 21 days. Each dayconsists of the following activities:

1) Full Physical Cleansing (Ghosl),2) Partial Physical Cleansing (Wazu),3) Meditation,4) Daily Breathing exercises,5) Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) self-treatment,6) Specific Treatment,7) Journal & Reflection,8) Prayer (as appropriate),9) Dietary considerations.

These do not have to be consecutive days but you should complete atleast 21 total days of cleansing activities.

The cleansing may take upward of 21 days and that is left to individual tomanage. But the break between stopping and restarting cleansing should notexceed 14 days; otherwise the cleansing should be restarted from the beginning. You can begin cleansing on the day after attunement.

We recommend you perform cleansing at a pace that is comfortable for you, don’t think that you have to do it every day. Sometimes the cleansing can beemotionally or physically demanding. If it gets too intense, then come back to itlater. The key point is to finish a total of 21 days self-cleansing. Likewise, don’trush the cleansing. In particular, take time to reflect on any issues that come up,those may be brought to your attention because they have not been dealt with.Seek advice from your teacher whenever you need it. Again, use the opportunityof the cleansing to move forward.

During the cleansing, it’s important that you do not leave any longer than14 days between the self-healing treatments. If you wait for longer, it willbe necessary to start the cleansing again from the beginning (but notethat the attunement does not need to be repeated).

If you are already a practitioner in another healing modality (such as Reiki), werecommend that you do not combine Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) with yourexisting practices. On the days that you do cleansing, avoid practicing anythingother than Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) or what has been described in thecourse manual.

Page 21: Sufi Reiki First Degree Manual

- 21 -

CLEANSING (Contd.)

1) Full Physical Cleansing (Ghosl)

Whenever you bathe or shower, it is recommended that you perform physicalcleansing when you have finished washing. This is particularly important whenyou have had a period or any physical relationship. Focus upon the intention ofpurification and perform ghosl as follows:

“Dear Beloved, please help me to purify the right side of my body”.After saying this, let clean water pour over the right side of your bodyfrom right shoulder to toe, three times.

“Dear Beloved, please help me to purify the left side of my body”.After saying this, let clean water pour over the left side of your bodyfrom left shoulder to toe, three times.

“Dear Beloved, please help me to purify the whole of my body”. Aftersaying this, let clean water pour over the whole of your body from headto toe, three times.

First become purified,Then look upon the pure One.

– Hafez (Sufi Saint)

Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) should not be performed while in an ‘unclean’state, as this is traditionally considering disrespectful. A person is ‘unclean’following sex or the emission of blood due to wounding or due to the menstrualcycle. During the menstrual cycle, a woman can still receive attunement but theself-healing exercises should not be performed because the body is cleansingnaturally.

2) Physical Cleansing (Wazu)

Whenever you need to do self healing, treat others or prayer it is recommendedthat you perform this physical cleansing, which is called Wazu. (This does notreplace the Ghosl).

Use running water.

Focus upon the intention of purification and perform the following:

Page 22: Sufi Reiki First Degree Manual

1. Hands: Using both hands together in a circular washing movement, rinse thehands three times up to and including the wrists.2. Hair parting: With one hand, draw water down the centre parting of yourhair, from the front part of the top of your head to the forehead.3. Face: Then rinse your face three times.4. Arms: Use your left hand to wash water down the right forearm, from andincluding the right elbow to the hand. Do this three times. Repeat for the leftarm.5. Feet: Wash the right foot three times, from and including the ankle to thetoes. Repeat for the left foot.

CLEANSING (Contd.)

3) Meditation

Daily meditation is an essential practice alongside Sufi Reiki (Sufi SaintsHealing).

Meditation is an essential tool by which you may improve your focalconcentration and your effectiveness for healing. We recommend starting withjust five minutes each day, consistency being more important than duration ofthe practice. Once you have established that for a few weeks, you may choose togradually increase the time you allocate to meditation.

Why are you so afraid of silence?Silence is the root of everything.

If you spiral into its voidA hundred voices will thunder messages

You long to hear.

– Rumi (Sufi Saint)

When meditating, sit on a cushion with your backstraight and your legs crossed (as pictured below). Placeyour left hand in your lap with palm facing upward;please the right hand on top with palm is facing upward. Then, bring down your left thumb and right thumb, sothat the right rests over the left (as pictured right).Meditate for at least a few minutes – longer if you can.

Meditative Hand Position

Move from one position to the other if you feel uncomfortable. If you find thesepositions are too uncomfortable, then use a chair.

Sitting Positions for Meditation

Group meditation is recommended as a complement to individual meditation. The Mir Sufi Centre has several ‘ghanigas’ (gathering places) where you canattend weekly meditation.

Page 24: Sufi Reiki First Degree Manual

CLEANSING (Contd.)

4) Daily Breathing Exercises

Each breath you inhale is your life force, and each breath youexhale refreshes your existence. These are the opposite attributes

that keep you sustained and require gratification.

– Mir Hadian

The following breathing exercises are to be practised at least twice a day. Foreach exercise, breathe in ‘Hay’ (meaning The Everlasting) under the breath andbreathe out ‘Hu’ (the intimate name of Beloved, or God) under the breath.

Counting breathingBreathe in continuously through the nose (Hay) while counting 1, 2, and3 then exhale continuously through the nose (Hu) while you reversecount 4, 3, 2, 1.

Cleansing breathingBreathe in continuously through the nose (Hay) while counting 1, 2, 3then count down 4, 3 and exhale sharply through the mouth (Hu) halfof your breath, then 2, 1 and exhale sharply the remaining breath.

Make sure that you breathe normally between repetitions and do not allowyourself to get light-headed.

5) Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) hands-on self-treatment

Get comfortable, whether sitting on a cushion or laying on the floor (avoid layingon a bed). Before you begin the self-treatment, humbly request assistance fromBeloved and the Pir for the healing. Visualise The Pir and Place your hands ineach of the positions shown on the next page. Each time you place your handson the body, visualise light coming into your crown (from The Pir out of yourhands and the light spreading into that part of your body. Hold each position fora few minutes before moving to the next.

When you finish, humbly thank the Beloved and The Pir for the use of theenergy and humbly request that the healing continue and assist you.

IMPORTANT:

Do not perform Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) on other people until youhave completed Level Two.

Second Chakra (Sacral): Visualise colour Orange Zhikr (mantra) 14 times:Momen (The Giver of Peace)

Fourth Chakra (Heart): Visualise colour Green Zhikr (mantra) 14 times: Malik(The Lord)

7) Journal and Reflection

For your benefit, it is required that you keep a journal and share that with yourteacher on a regular basis, e.g., weekly. The journal can be concise but youshould record your thoughts and observations during the cleansing process, particularly any emotional or physical fluctuations, even situations that arise.

As well as sharing your journal, advise your teacher of any symptoms, dreams orvisions however ordinary they may seem. Without that, your teacher is unable tohelp you to understand and resolve issues that arise; therefore you won’t bemaking the most of the cleansing.

Failure to keep a diary and to discuss your experiences with your teacherwill limit your progress. Make the most of the opportunity.

Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) students are encouraged to reflect upon their lifefrom time-to-time. Give yourself time to do that. What do you consider isbenefiting you holistically – and what is not? What distractions have you got andhow could you minimise those? Are you running your life or is life running you?We don’t recommend making radical lifestyle changes but gradual changes canhave a lasting effect and allow you to better concentrate on the practices.

8) Prayer

Offer a prayer each day to humbly request that the Beloved and The Pir assistyou with the cleansing and help you to make the most of it.

9) Dietary considerations

A holistic approach will help you to make the most of the cleansing. Oncleansing days, we recommend avoiding red meat & alcohol and reducingstimulants such as tea, coffee, tobacco and sugar. We’re not suggesting youeliminate these stimulants completely since your body may be used to them butsome reduction will help you to concentrate on the cleansing.

Make sure you drink plenty of water.

MAINTAINING THE HEALING

Maintain regular self-cleansing

When you have completed a total of 21 days self-cleansing, regular practice is stillimportant. The more you can apply yourself to the cleansing, the stronger youbecome as a channel, and your experience become more real. With Sufi Reiki(Sufi Saints Healing) ‘practice makes perfect’ as the saying goes.

Keep communicating with your teacher and sharing your journal.

You can use Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) any time, even incorporating it intoyour daily life. You can set aside time specifically to give yourself a Sufi Reiki(Sufi Saints Healing) treatment, or as part of your daily meditation practice. Youcan put your hands on yourself and connect to that whenever and wherever yourhands are not otherwise occupied, and you can easily do this unobtrusively whenother people are around.

“Be good before you do good”

The most valuable way in which you can use Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) is toapply it to yourself. It’s good to have an intention to assist others and to care forthe well-being of others but if you truly want to assist other people, then first youmust begin with yourself and concentrate on becoming a clear, effective channelfor the healing. That can only come about through application of self-cleansing.

The Pir talks about throwing small stones into a pond. As you watch the ripplestravelling throughout the water, that’s the effect of the self-healing on thosearound you. As you progress through the levels, so the stones become larger andthe effect more profound.

The next step: Level Two

When you have completed the cleansing, you can discuss Level Two with yourteacher. If you both feel that you’re ready for that, then you can apply for it. AtLevel Two, you learn to apply Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) to your friends andfamily.

IMPORTANT:

Do not perform Sufi Reiki (Sufi Saints Healing) on other people until youhave completed Level Two.

Finally, we leave you with a poem from Rumi, who spoke about the Sufi Saints inone of his many poems:

We are healers, wise men from the East!We have cured many from sorrow and blindness,

We uproot the cause of all pain.We bring the dead to life because

We have learned our skills from Christ,Ask those who have witnessed our signs.

We mix our medicine from plants of paradiseAnd need no instruments

For we run through the body like thought. We are the healers of spirit and

Do not look for reward.

But before we leave,Remember not to speak of us, guard your words

For this world is full of unfriendly ears.
