CHAPTER
OFFICERS
Knights of Columbus
Vol. 13 No. 12 June 2014 SUFFOLK CHAPTER NEWS
From the Chapter Chairman’s Desk … My Brothers and Sisters in Columbianism: As we wind down our Columbian Year I want to thank everyone for their support they have given me as your Suffolk Chapter Chairman. I also want to thank our Sister Columbiettes for their support to our Chapter. I want to Congratulate the Suffolk Chapter Columbiettes on their achievement in taking 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Place in membership at their recent State Convention. Way to Go Girls! Let’s not forget our Charity Drive is in full swing and councils we need your help please! All of our committees are down from last year especially our Journal Ads and Charity Drive books. Our ticket sales for our Charity Ball is slow. Our Ball will be held on June 29th at Chateau Le Mer in Lindenhurst. The cost is $65p/p (same as last year). For reservations see PGK, FDD William Larke. You will have a cocktail half hour, dinner with a choice, top shelf liquor, ice cream bar, chocolate fountain, DJ, coffee and cake so come on down and have a good time at our culmination of all your hard work on the Charity Drive. Let us not forget that this Charity Drive Honorary Chairman is our dear departed brother PGK, FDD Nick Marchesi. I hope everyone remembered our fallen heroes on Memorial Day and if you see a Veteran please say thank you for keeping us safe. Our June meeting will be at OLPH Council 794 on June 20th at 8pm with a 7pm repast. This will be the election meeting so I hope all councils are paid up in dues and have their delegate forms in. This will be the very last Chapter meeting in our building as it was sold. Happy Father’s Day! from my family to yours.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

In 1954, lobbying by the Order of the Knights of Columbus
helped convince the U.S. Congress to add the phrase "under
God" to the Pledge of Allegiance. President Dwight
Eisenhower wrote to Supreme Knight Luke E. Hart thanking
the Knights for their "part in the
movement to have the words 'under God'
added to our Pledge of Allegiance." “I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United
States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. ”

Prayer for the Canonization of Father Michael J. McGivney God, our Father, protector of the poor and defender of the widow and orphan, you called your priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, to be an
apostle of Christian family life and to lead the young to the generous service of their neighbor. Through the example of his
life and virtue may we follow your Son, Jesus Christ, more closely, fulfilling his commandment of charity and building up
his Body which is the Church. Let the inspiration of your servant prompt us to greater confidence in your love so that we
may continue his work of caring for the needy and the outcast. We humbly ask that you glorify your servant
Father Michael J. McGivney on earth according to the design of your holy will. Through his intercession, grant the favor
I now present (here make your request). Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be to the Father.
