Adult Learners Week

This week is Adult Learners Week- a national campaign celebrating lifelong learning.

‘Confetti Showcase’ June 17th 2010 Experience Confetti’s annual showcase of the best student work, including:

films, animations, remixes, classic music productions, computer game concepts and designs and sound installations.

Meet the students that created them and hear about their work and ambitions.

Guests from throughout the Creative Industries will be there to network with students / graduates and sample the talent of the future. Students, parents and guests are all welcome.

Designated smoking areas

If you haven’t quit smoking yet, please remember that the courtyard is the only designated smoking area in Confetti and it is illegal to smoke under the awning near the bike rack.

National Diploma Music Technology Students

In addition to the usual catch up sessions on Mondays 1800-1900 in S215, from now on Lawrence Stewart is also available every Thursday 1400-1500.

Functional Skills Exams

Functional English re-sits and all important Functional math’s exams are being held on Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th June, 2010.

Passing these exams is essential criteria for progression on to higher level courses at Confetti and elsewhere.

Attending all Creative Industry Skills sessions as well as your allocated Skill Building session in the LRC is essential over the next two weeks.

In addition to this, you should continue to develop your skills outside of Confetti using www.bbc.co.uk/skillswise or by logging on to your own For Skills account at www.moredle.com .

UK Young Artists

UK Young Artists is calling for submissions for this year’s awards and you’re invited to be involved!

Its aim is to showcase the best of the UK's young and innovative creative talent and provide vital support to young artists (18-30) while building confidence and supporting creative networking.

Get Connected!

Connect is the title for a brand new pilot television programme being launched by the Confetti Media Group. It is a magazine style entertainment programme that looks at the Creative Industries in Nottingham past, present and future. Think The Gadget Show meets The Culture Show. Content for the programme will be produced by students studying music, media and gaming at Confetti at Levels 3 and 4 with industry specialists and mentors on hand to provide expert tuition and guidance throughout the production process.

Already 50 students from a variety of courses are actively involved with the project and are currently working with mentors to develop a variety of assets for the programme including music, graphics and video.

Castle RadioThe new Castle College AM Radio Station has been set up to run along the lines of a

Student Union society. This gives Confetti students many exiting opportunities in terms of helping to run the station and providing or developing content for transmission.

Student presenters can submit one hour radio shows on CD to Curtis Hodelin for consideration for upcoming shows. All material will be checked by Castle Radio management before being played on air and the attached guidelines must be followed.
