Position: Student Ministries – High School Pastor The Student Ministries – High School Pastor is a full-time pastoral position. He or she shall be responsible to complete responsibilities related to the High School ministries of RMBC and be under the guidance and authority of the Senior Pastor. Summary Job Description The High School Pastor should oversee the ministry towards High School students (grades 9-12) with a desire to: disciple students, develop spiritual maturity, provide quality Christian experiences, serve as a resource to parents/families, and resource the RMBC community of faith. Administrative Responsibilities: 1. Meet weekly with the Senior Pastor to review tasks, schedule, and programmed events. 2. Attend weekly staff meetings on Monday mornings. 3. Lead Youth Committee meetings. 4. Report at Administrative Council meetings. Ministry Responsibilities: 1. Establish curriculum and themes for Sunday morning high school ministry. 2. Provide direction and insight towards the worship band for Sunday morning high school ministry. 3. Organize and oversee other High School ministry functions and activities. a. Developing student leaders; look for ways to involve youth in the life and leadership of the broader church. b. Recruit, train, and oversee adult volunteers. c. Planning national trips to conferences (National conferences every 4 years and statewide conferences on the intervening 2 years) and summer/winter camps (yearly) d. Finding, planning and running local and international mission opportunities e. Encouraging, equipping, and discipling parents to help disciple their student-aged children f. Wednesday night small groups and worship time g. Special events in relation to existing programming h. Retreats, Camps, and Outings that fulfill the vision of RMBC 4. Teaching responsibilities: a. Sunday mornings High School Ministry. b. Wednesday night High School Ministry. c. Teaching occasionally in Jr. High ministry (Sunday mornings and/or Wednesday night) with the purpose of building a bridge between Jr. High and High School ministries. d. Preaching occasionally as the third member of the RMBC pulpit team. 5. Develop creative advertising for ministry events and creative correspondence with students (ie social networking, texting, etc.) 6. Attend activities high school students are involved in outside of a church setting. (school events, Christian clubs, sporting events, etc.) 7. Develop, build and maintain a small group ministry within the High School ministry. a. Summary Job Description

b. Oversee and implement curriculum for small groups. c. Recruit, train and encourage small group leaders.

8. Recruit, train and encourage volunteer staff members. Creating an environment of collaboration within the high school ministry where volunteer staff members are seen as partners in the ministry with specific ministry responsibilities delegated out to them in order to see better effectiveness in ministry.

9. Develop creative and strategic ways to reach young people in the greater Reedley area. 10. Attend Jr. High ministry events on a semi-regular basis to build a bridge between the Jr. High and High School

ministries. 11. Other responsibilities as assigned. 12. Function as a resource for other RMBC ministries.

Necessary Professional Skills

• Must be committed to a full-time ministry recognizing a 40-plus hour work week includes preparation time, times with young people building relationships, as well as times in services and meetings.

• Able to craft vision for new ministry initiatives. • Collaborate with and work alongside others in the Jr. High, High School, and well as with the other pastors and

ministries of RMBC. • Manage personal and professional time by keeping and maintaining an up-to-date shared calendar. • Plan for continued professional development and nurture professional relationships. • Be able to communicate with a variety of personality types. • Be able to complete tasks a timely manner. • Create and edit computer documents and media projects within established guidelines. • Manage projects and project schedules on time and according to plan. • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. • Create and file all documents related to ongoing program operations.

Qualifications

• Must be a passionate and committed follower of Jesus. • Must make Reedley Mennonite Brethren his/her your home church, including joining as a church member. • Education: Bachelor’s degree is required, graduate/seminary training desired. • Express a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have a desire for a deeper personal relationship with Christ

through prayer and personal study. • Able to demonstrate basic Biblical understanding and truths. • Show evidence of a commitment to a relationship with Christ in his/her personal life, family relationships, and

ministry. • Should be self motivated, organized and able to carry out commitments and plans set before them. • Have a valid driver’s license. • Posses a passion and capacity to meet new students and welcome new and returning students into RMBC

programs. • Have related Student ministries experience. • Have read and be willing to abide by the Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith, Reedley Mennonite Brethren

Church By-Laws, Reedley Mennonite Brethren Student Ministries Staff Handbook. • Willing to complete the Licensing process through the Pacific District Conference Board of Faith and Life. • Willingness to seek further professional training, including seminary or other professional training.

Compensation

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and education.
