Item 1 Wednesday is our first Early Release Day (ERD) On ERDs, we dismiss at 11:55 and we
do not serve lunch. It is NOT a late start Wednesday.
Item 2 Car Riders: In the mornings and afternoons, all drop-offs and pick-ups will be in the
back of the building. Please pull as far forward as you can to allow for multiple drop-offs
and pick-ups at the same time. The front drive is reserved for students in wheelchairs or
crutches.
Item 3 Archery Parent Meeting: A mandatory parent/archer meeting will be held at SLMS on
Monday, October 23rd at 6:00pm in the green gym. This meeting is for any SLMS student
wishing to participate in the 2018 NASP Archery program. We will hand out team
agreement forms, review all requirements, expectations, and schedules as well as answer
any questions you may have. Please attend if you plan to participate in archery. Email

Item 4 Lost and Found: Missing a lunchbox or hoodie? Our Lost and Found is busting at the
seams! If your student is missing any personal items, please ask them to stop by the front
office to check the Lost and Found. All items will be donated after conferences.

Item 5 Electronic Device Reminder: Students should have all electronic devices, including cell
phones, powered off upon entering the school building. Cell phone use is not allowed in
the hallways, lunch room, or Privilege areas. Cell phone use in the classroom is
designated by the teacher. Please see page 17 in the Student Handbook for additional
information.
Item 6 Scholastic Book Fair: The library is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair October 9-19.
Students will have a chance to browse the book fair during a scheduled time with their
language arts classes and may make purchases during that time or each morning between
7:15 and 7:30am. The final opportunity to purchase books will be during Learning Expo
on Wednesday, October 18 and Thursday, October 19. Visit this link to learn more about

Item 7 SLMS PTA Clothing Drive: SLMS PTA is holding a clothing drive from October 12-
19th benefitting Lee’s Summit School District students. We are collecting new or gently
used fall and winter clothing (coats, hoodies, sweats, long-or-short sleeved shirts, tennis
shoes, and new socks). The 7th and 8th grade team that brings in the most clothing by
weight will win an ice cream celebration during SOAR. Special thanks to Cosentino’s
Price Chopper for donating ice cream. Students can bring clothes to school or to Parent-
Teacher Conferences. See attached flier.
Item 8 PTA Board Meetings: All parents are invited to attend upcoming PTA Board Meetings.
All meetings are scheduled at 6:30pm and are held in the SLMS Media Center. If you

Item 9 Eat at Chili’s on October 19: to support Project Graduation. Project grad provides an
alcohol and drug free evening following graduation ceremonies. See attached flyer.
Item 10 School Trip: Don’t miss out on the SLMS trip to New York City May 31-June 2, 2018.
