Virtual Honors Music FestivalEvent Description

DESCRIPTION

Virtual Honors Music Festival is a one-day performing arts symposium for motivated high school students.The objective of the Festival is to provide students with advanced instruction in vocal, band, and stringsstudies. Students will attend six sessions, each lasting 45 minutes, throughout the day.

Our team of instructors is a combination of DoDEA Europe teachers, military musicians, and statesideexperts.

STUDENT SELECTION

DATE OF FESTIVAL

Honors Music Festival will take place on November 17-18, 2021. Wednesday, November 17, 2021 :: 1800 :: "Winds Aloft" Woodwind Quintet performance and Q&A. Thursday, November 18, 2021 :: 0900-1700 :: Workshop Sessions Thursday, November 1800, 2021 :: 1800 :: "Five Star Brass" Brass Quintet performance and Q&A

**All times are Central European Time. Subtract one hour for England and add two for Bahrain and Ankara.

Applications will be accepted through Friday, October 22, 2021. Students must be logged in to [email protected] account to apply. When applications are complete, selected students will be notifiedand sent a follow-up email so they can select their preferred workshops.

Students must be academically eligible to participate in a DoDEA Europe Student Activities Event. Students are responsible for work missed while they are out of school for Honors Music Festival. They

should communicate with their teachers prior to the event to ask for assignments to be completed.

Interested students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to submit an online application at:

All Honors Music Festival events will be conducted through Google Classroom and Google Meet. Studentswill login to the workshop from home and will need access to a computer with a working camera andmicrophone in addition to their instrument.

There is no cost to the student for this event.

Applications are submitted online using your @student.dodea.edu account

Read the information letter and list of workshops before submitting an application. AStudent Application Worksheet is provided on the next page to help prepare yourapplication.Students must be academically eligible to participate. This will be verified by yourmusic teacher prior to your acceptance.Review the Application Worksheet (next page) and prepare before uploading. *** Youmay not revisit the site to make changes to your application. Make every effort to prepare detailed and well-written responses. It is critical thatyou present a clear picture of your skills and experiences. It is wise to write this in aWord or Google Doc in advance.Print a copy of the Statement of Participation / Student Behavior Form and obtain therequired signatures. This will need to be uploaded to your application. You can use aPDF app on your smartphone, ask your teacher to scan a copy, or upload a picture ofthe form from your phone or camera. You cannot submit your application withoutthis form. A physical signature is REQUIRED for this form to be accepted - do notsubmit a form with names simply typed in.Log in to the Google Form using your @student.dodea.edu account and completeyour application. If you are unsure about what this is, ask your school ET or musicteacher.
