The Mountain Industrial Boulevard corridor east of downtown Atlanta is an economic development powerhouse positioned for full resurgence through sound investment.

More than 830 thriving businesses compose this segment of an incredible corridor connecting DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties. The span offers a regionally significant base of operations with dynamic growth opportunities for emerging and established industries.

The area is represented by the Stone Mountain Community Improvement District (CID) – a geographically defined territory where commercial and industrial property owners fund infrastructure improvements. The CID is a public-private partnership between local governments, business professionals and surrounding residents, all working together to raise property values and increase investment.

Boundaries of the Stone Mountain CID include East Ponce de Leon Ave. to the south and the Gwinnett County line to the north with Mountain Industrial Boulevard and US Highway 78 bisecting the district in the north-south and east-west directions.

The CID is working to establish local access to the successful “Quick Start” program – fully customized workforce training at no cost to new, expanding and existing businesses.

Employers and workers benefit from greater Mountain Industrial corridor’s close proximity to the world-class public and private schools.

The CID is immediately adjacent to Gwinnett County’s successful Parkview school cluster and minutes from the Parkview High School Facility. Parkview is ranked as one of Newsweek magazine’s “Best American High Schools,” rating it among the top 6% of U.S. high schools.

Based within the CID is the innovative DeKalb Early College Academy (DECA), an early college initiative operating in partnership with Georgia Perimeter College. DECA allow high school students to earn a high school diploma while at the same time receiving credits toward a college associates degree.

The area is also served by the DeKalb Academy of Technology & Environment (D.A.T.E.), a charter school that is quickly ascending the national ranks for focused educational institutions. The D.A.T.E. serves students elementary and middle school ranks.

WORKING TOGETHER, INVESTING IN SUCCESS The Stone Mountain Community Improvement District is bringing together partners from the public and private sectors to work together on efforts that raise property values and encourage job growth. The Stone Mountain CID is coordinating efforts with the neighboring Gwinnett Village and Lilburn CIDs to create a continuous cooridor of commercial and industrial success across county lines.

In addition to its planning and improvement efforts, the CID is championing the following measures to improve business growth throughout the corridor.

• Upgrading the multi-modal transportation network to better serve existing and future employers.

• Improving county regulatory environment – including permitting and planning approvals – to be more easily understood and inviting to businesses.

• Expanding economic development planning on all fronts to aggressively retain, expand and attract companies.
