Chapter Founding

The Stone Fists were part of the 4th founding in Mid M32, Successor chapter from the Imperial Fist

space marine chapter. The chapter was raised from Garrison troops defending The Sarcen Fists.

The Garrison Held the Hell world against the tide of chaos forces, when Imperial forces withdrew

from the system the Imperial Fists company held their ground fortifying the world and beating off

attack after bloody attack. Due to the Location of Sarcen on the Chaos supply lines the Chaos fleet

was unable to keep a constant flow of supplies to the front as Imperial Fist thunder-hawk kept a

constant hit and run raiding force within the many moons of the system. In desperation during the

final days of the siege a company of Iron warriors and Khorne berserker were landed to take the last

bastions, but just as the siege was looking at its bleakest the loyalist marines charged from their defences taking on the warriors of Khorne and routing them. The counter attack had been times

with the arrival of Imperial fist battle barge's dropping fresh troops onto Saracen. The chaos forces

fled leaving a hand full of Iron Warriors behind as a rearguard, it took many months for the last

invaders to but hunted down and eradicated. The Company was hailed as the key to imperial

victory against the chaos forces in the whole sector.

The 44 survivors accepted fresh recruits from the other companies of the Imperial Fists to re-build

their strength, however the Imperial fist chapter Master decided the Company had become too

specialised and Shortly after the Company became the Stone Fists.

Chapter battle Doctrine

Upon Arriving on any battlefront the Stone Fists will immediately set about in the construction of

Defences. Defences depend on natural terrain but typically make use of Bastions Positioned aroundthe battlefield, each interlocking its weapons arks with the next in a web of mutually supportive fire.

Once the Bastion line is complete, the construction moves to small forts, positioned to the rear of

the Bastion line, these typically consist of a single Revelin forwards with the Fortress behind, the

Revelin acts as both a breakwater against massed horde attacks and as cover from enemy fire

directed upon the fortress. Usually this defence line is situated to the front of Local defenders

positions, Imperial guard or Planetary defence forces will be positioned in defences to the rear of

the space marines, so the marines will take most of the enemy fire.

Once an attack is begin Stone Fists marines will hold and allow the enemy to pound their defences,

Stone Fists are known for their unblinking calmness under even the heaviest barrage, shelling that

lasts for weeks that would shatter the nerves of the bravest guardsman will scarcely be noticed by

Space marines who are naturally accustomed to such experiences, knowing full well that their

bunker wall will stand up to any fire and enemy can present.

When the Final enemy attack comes the marines will man the battlements and fight with stubborn

tenacity, standing like statues under the witheringly fire of enemy infantry. As Bastion and bastion

falls and breaches are made the Sarcen fists will still hold on, funnelling the enemy into corridors of

kill zones. Finally as the enemy forces reach the Fortress line and their first forlorn hope reaches

the imperial guard trenches or PDF City walls the Sarcen fists suddenly change tactics. They

charge from the Bastions, Predators emerge from the Fortresses, smashing into the attacking

enemies flanks, joining up and cutting off the advance enemy forces, with the Bastion line re-

established the attacking besiegers trapped between the Bastion line and allied defences and are cut

to pieces. The moral effect of the enemy seeing the space marines who stand so statue like liken tostone men the sudden change into fast striking warriors is often enough to shatter even the best

warriors nerves.

Home World

Sarsen is a Primordial world, It is the 2nd closest planet to the systems Star. From orbit the world

appears blue green, with clouds of yellow sulphur billowing from Volcano's and geysers casting

vanes of yellow across the equatorial regions. The atmosphere is Carbon Dioxide and not

survivable to marines for more than a few hours without breathing equipment. As the world turns

in its orbit one side is forever bathed in sunlight and is a hellish place, the rock boils and explodesout of fissures and volcano, the light side of the Planet is covered in thick clouds of gas, so thick

that with a bit of careful weather prediction the marines can venture onto the light side without been

burnt to a cinder by the sunlight. Needless to say the chapters Meteorologists are highly respected.

The dark side of Sarsen is is bathed in reflected light from the 2 moons that orbit the world, giving

the world a day night cycle of 8 hours of light and 16 hours of night. The dark side is no less

dangerous than the light side, the Gravitic forces of the moons give the lakes of lava a tidal ebb and

flow. Volcano's belch out palls of yellow sulphur that cast streams of clouds across the whole

surface. Electric storms thunder across the surface and can be highly dangerous if one is caught in

the open.

On the dark side is the fortress monastery of the chapter, a massive tower reaching above cloud

level glitters in blue rock with yellow vanes, From the base of the monastery stretches a hugenetwork of bunker, pill boxes, Bastion and Donjons spreading in all directions like a cascade of a

rock slide, new bunkers are built over the top of old making a maze of complex architecture.

Within the complex is an insane network of tunnels and corridors most no wider than a marine, this

is not just for practical reasons but so a single marine can hold a corridor, limiting the number of

troops required to defend the fortress.

Around the monetary separated by last causeways are defence towers that hold missile banks and

laser batteries. Meaning that any approach from orbit is a very dangerous affair. The 2 moons in

orbit are also home to bastions and defence batteries, each containing the figure power of a fleet.

On the larger of the 2 moons is the docking station for the chapters battle station, an ancient mobile

space fortress. Although it is not always in orbit, without it, the defences of the 2 moons and Sarsen

itself is more than enough to fend off enemy attack for long enough for Imperial re-enforcements to

arrive.

Chapter Demeanour and psychology Like their Founding chapter the Imperial Fists The Chapter has a reputation for coolness and

endless patience. They revel in the Nick name of Stone men, a title held by the Imperial fists. The

marines never rush to do anything, even under attack Stone Fists will go about their routine and

battle preparations as if all is well. This is of great importance as when fighting along side

Imperial forces their Iron Discipline and as-matter-of-fact manner helps to give their allies great

encouragement. As the marines also believe they are no better than Imperial Guard or even PDF

Militia they are happy in the company of other Soldiers who are not marines, and very separate

themselves from the allied troops, eating food and training along side them. This relaxed manner

however does not include chapter rituals which are closely guarded from all.

Despite their cold reputation it is also known that the stone fists do posses a very dark scene of

humour, although as the chapter marines seek Old Galactic Gothic in conversation with each other and as most of the jokes have cultural references to do with the chapter rituals and history few can

have a hope of understanding what was so funny.

Initiation Rights

the 4th planet from Sarsen is a gas giant, the giant has a ring of rocks and space debris, there is a

moon orbiting the gas giant called Mornar on the surface there are 2 mausoleum monasteries, at the

north pole is the burial ground of the initiates and the suth pole stands the vast mausoleum of the

fallen marines of the chapter. Every 4 years the moons orbit crosses the path of the debris field and

Mornar is bombarded for 4 days by meteors blasting Equator of the Moon. After 4 years of training Each initiate is dropped on Mornar and must build a personal bunker to

survive for the 4 day bombardment, they have a selection of any building material they request and

any equipment they decide to use, the only limitation is what they can physically Load and carry to

and from the Drop Pod. They have 4 Weeks to build their bunker and there are no rules to the

bunker design, it is entirely left to the initiate to decide what they will do, some build an

adamantium igloo, others a simple stone bunker, re-enforced ceremite, Titanium A-frame tent, some

even chose to simply dig a hole deep enough to hide in it.

When Mornar passes into the debris field rocks rain down blasting the surface turning the world

into a hell world as splinters of obsidian, Quarts, Diamond, Ice and Marble smash down like deadly

hailstones.

After the bombardment is over the surviving initiates emerge, those who died are collected and

carried across the deadly surface of the world, through lava pits and fresh radioactive craters. Cliffs

of ice and Fresh rubble of glass and rock. The elation of survival is tempered by the initiates

carrying of their dead brethren to the safety of the North pole. This is the final lesson and for most

the hardest. It drills into them the proximity they were all in to death, and the desire to never leave

their dead in the field of battle. Once at the North pole the initiates entomb their dead brethren in

the mausoleum of Initiates. They are interred with their armour but for the right arm and left leg

section of their armour which is exchanged for their own armour. From here they are transported to

the south pole where the mausoleum of dead chapter marines stands, and under the watchful eyes of

the tombs of long dead marines who died in the glory of battle the initiates take their fallen

comrades armour of their right arm and left lower leg enamelled in blue and don them. With them

they have also carried a piece of the bunker that preserved their lives during the initiation, and they

take a sliver of the material and have them bound into their bolter, and a second part is encased into

a ring that adorns the right hand gauntlet. Forever the marine will look at his right hand and

remember his fallen comrades, and his skill in surviving what they didn't. Now they are ready to be

space marines. They form a platoon and march the length of the mausoleum flanked by their battle

brothers who salute the new space marines in honour.

Chapter Beliefs

The Stone Fists believe firmly in the words of Dorn, That the strong exist to protect the weak.

Space marines are augmented super soldiers, but were not created to rule as Lords and gods but to

serve and protect those who are weaker then them. That a soldier of the Imperium for all his

strength and power is but nothing compared to a lowly surf who produces the grain, meat and

Bullets that those soldiers Use. Stone fists treat civilian peasants with the same curtsey as a rank

and file soldier or a great general.

Like their founder chapter the stone Fists do not worship the Emperor as a god and dislike theimperial cult and the ecclesiastical parts of the Imperial Administration, including the Inquisition.

However they do not show this dislike openly to none marines who do follow the Imperial Cult, as

Page 5: Stone Fists Loyalist Space Marines

they understand the strength other Humans gain from their beliefs.

Chapter Rituals and Traditions

The most important rituals are steeped in mystery and ancient traditions. The enamelling of the left

arm armour sections of their armour is done every 4 years, Marines gather the hands of Fallen

comrades and once stripped to bone they will inscribe the names of the dead on their bones and

place the slivers of bone in the enamelled segments, so all marines carry the fallen with them. All the Marines who have fallen in battle have their bodies collected where possible, or hands if

necessary due to time and military situation. The bodies are taken to the Shrine Mausoleum on

Sarsen where they are held for 4 years each placed on a pedestal in the chamber of the fallen. In the

4 years the weathering of the atmosphere of Sarsen and the blast storms that lash the surface

weather the corpses and strip the flesh to the bone. Once the 4 year long resting has finished the

fallen are taken by battle barge to Mornar the 4 th planet of the system. The bones are taken by their

comrades to the South Pole where the Mausoleum Monastery of the chapter Marines stands on

sacred chapter ground. The Marines take a bone of their comrades for the ceremony of Enamelling

and the rest of the skeletal remains are encased in a tomb of crystal and stone, where possible the

body is placed so the skull looks out of the crystal part of the tomb, the black skull sockets ever

looking out across the mausoleum galleries, to see the honoured company they keep in death.
