Student Safety

Our circle drive is a very busy place at the beginning and end

of the school day. For the safety of all our students, here are

a few reminders.

Students are to enter and exit from the right side of the

vehicle. Please be patient and remain with your vehicle at

all times when in the circle drive. This will ensure traffic is

moving safely in a timely manner.

There is no right turn out of the circle drive during drop off

and pick up.

Students should not be picked up or dropped off in the

staff parking lot at the west side of the building. This

parking lot is for our school buses and daycare provider vans

only. You also need to be mindful of where you are parking

on the street.

Please do not park in the NO PARKING ZONES located near

the west parking lot. This is needed for our buses to enter

and exit safely.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Principal

Nurse’s Notes As we enter the influenza season, I would like to remind you of the guidelines for school attendance when students are ill. The 2017-2018

Bloomington Public Schools, District 87 Pre-K & Elementary Handbook (p. 35) outlines the times when children should not be in school. These

times include when students are experiencing:

- A temperature/fever within the last 24 hours

- Nausea/Vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours

- Sore Throat/swollen glands

- A frequent or disruptive cough, excessive sneezing or other sign of an acute respiratory infection

- Chills/headache/acute cold/earache

- Watery discharge from nostrils or eyes.

- Any contagious illness such as “strep throat” that requires antibiotic therapy. Once a student has been fever free without the use

of fever-reducing medications and on antibiotics for 24 hours, he/she may return to school.

- Any undiagnosed skin rash/skin lesion. A student with a rash may attend school upon presenting a physician’s note stating the

rash is not contagious.

- Severe pain

- Pronounced lethargy or fatigue that interferes with participation in learning activities.

Also included in the handbook is the information for having medication at school (p.27). Remember, medication CANNOT be administered at

school without a note from the prescribing physician completed and on file at school. This includes OVER-THE-COUNTER and PRESCRIPTION

medications. Cough drops containing menthol and chapstick also require a note from the doctor.

SWEATY SELFIES! Welcome back to a new school year! This year in PE, there is a wall dedicated to Sweaty Selfies. A Sweaty Selfie is a picture of you and your child during or after any type of movement. It can be you and your child, the whole family, your child and grandparent, etc. If you and your child are playing, exercising, or doing any type of movement, please take a selfie! Please send this picture to school with your child or email me at [email protected] so I can post the pictures on our wall for everyone to see. If you have any questions, please contact me at any time. I hope to have the entire wall covered with Sweaty Selfies! Thank you,

Mrs. Hahn

I am excited to announce that we are working with Square 1 Art as a fundraiser for the art

program! In the coming weeks, your students will be creating art on special paper that I will

send away to Square 1 Art. They will send back a special catalog for each student that fea-

tures products with their art on it! When you purchase any of these items, you not only pre-

serve your students’ art, but you will also be supporting the schools art program.
