Crea
tivity What is creativity? Defined in “A Guide to Four Cs”, NEA.
❖ Think Creatively ➢ Use a wide range of creative techniques (brainstorming).➢ Elaborate, refine, analyze, and evaluate original ideas to improve and maximize
creative efforts
❖ Work Creatively with Others ➢ Be open and responsive to new and diverse ideas; incorporate group input and
feedback into the work.
❖ Implement Innovation➢ Act on creative ideas to make a tangible and useful contribution to the field in
which the innovation will occur

the classroom experience activates both hemispheres of the brain and helps students to remember information.

Crea
tivity What is creativity? Defined in the Art Department
❖ Going above and beyond the basic requirements.
❖ What did the student do differently?
❖ What “twist” did they put on the work?
Above & Beyond
How can you incorporate Creativity?● How would you re-tell the “Above & Beyond” video?
○ Students Collaborate, ○ Communicate, ○ Critical think (problem solve) ○ Create without limits.
Recommended: class set of colored pencils, printer paper or Chromebook

Cards are a real-life project with a purpose and can be used in many classes.
❖ Ideas:➢ Character Card - make a card for a character from a book. The card could reflect the mood of
the character. Ex. If the character is sad, lonely, or betrayed the color of the card or text can reflect sadness. What they have to write in the card is the assignment. Card Examples: Apology, Sympathy, Romance, Obituary, Holiday, Thank You, Encouragement, Congrats...many possibilities.
❖ You set the parameters ➢ Card should reflect the mood or feeling of character (or one character card to another
character, what would it say?)➢ Must have the character’s name➢ Must show example of alliteration?????➢ Must decorate➢ Must have at least 5 colors
