ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
My experience in warehousing, distribution, and logistics started in 1980 at Red Food Stores Warehouse,
Chattanooga, TN. I started at an entry level as an order selector and saw the day to day process of preparing
an order, stacking and securing it for shipment, to it being loaded onto trailers. From there I moved up into
driving a forklift. This position opened me up to additional aspects of warehouse operations such as the
receiving process, which would include documentation, location, and the processes necessary to manage the
products location and the need to make sure everything is accounted for, and also the first in first out process.
This position gave me opportunities to help with inventory control personnel, locating and counting product.
Additional inventory control was done once a year and involved counting and recording the information of all

the products in the warehouse. In the 14 years I worked at this company I got additional experience in food
related product handling as well as loading and unloading trailers. I went on to learn to work as a spotter and
then onto the road as a driver making deliveries. Driving gave me more information as to how the retail end
of the business worked as well as the problem solving issues that a driver encounters. All this is very much
a part of the logistics process.
I also have experience as a manager with River of Life Thrift Stores. As a manager I was responsible for
picking up products, controlling the inventory, and seeing to the deliveries as well. I managed a small team of
workers within the warehouse, and those that delivered and picked up. Note that receiving product required
communication and coordination with the donors.
At Cameron and Barkley I pulled orders loaded the orders and delivered. I drove a lift truck, received products
(including all documentation) and general warehouse work. I also prepared shipments for UPS, Fedex, and
others. This also included coordination and communication with the carriers, and the use of UPS software.
I have additional experience in logistics as a freight broker with Vision Transportation. This required making
phone contact with potential shippers, handling the legal requirements, contacting carriers then again covering
the legal documentation, then coordinating the pickup and delivery.
As a Commercial Truck Driver Instructor at Georgia Northwestern College I taught all aspects of the
transportation industry. This was an opportunity to work with a large number of people over the 4 years in this
position. Managing a class of adult students requires accurate record keeping, class room instruction, range
instruction, over the road instruction, and administering exams. Learning to work with a variety of personalities,
and sometimes career counseling are necessary skills for this job. Making sure that all the students have met
all the legal requirements is also required.
