Step 2: Brainstorm Ideas What inspires you? In the Brainstorm Ideas step of the design process, you might gather some early big ideas of things that inspire you when thinking about a classroom of the future. Try This What kind of atmosphere supports creativity and innovation? How will you create these conditions in your lab? Find images on Flickr.com that represent how you want the space to feel. Classrooms aren't the only places where learning takes place. Can you find other good examples on Flickr.com of how they accommodate student and teacher needs? What kind of furniture and equipment will be in your new lab? Search on Flickr.com for cool furniture, equipment, or technology that might work in your new clasroom. Save copies of the images you find, and post them in the slides for your project. Include a hyperlink to the Flickr photo in the caption, to credit the photographer. Post images of buildings, colors, designs, textures, or other things that inspire you in this step. Make sure you give credit to your source! Think About Have you seen any other classrooms that you liked or did not like. Why? Does your new classroom need to look like the same typical classroom? What other classroom spaces around the world are inspiring and interesting? Will this classroom replace your existing classroom or become an addition to a different part of the building? Will it be built in an empty lot or space? Will it be underground or built on the roof? You decide.

that represent how you want the space to feel. -

- This classroom is both spacious and there is a lot going for it. The classroom has the pillars and rafters to symbolize what it is for. There is a lot of space for people to work, but there are areas around the room made for different tasks, but in the end it it still a classroom and people will find it easy to learn because there is a large board and there aren’t computers to distract the students.

2) Classrooms aren't the only places where learning takes place. Can

you find other good examples on Flickr.com of how they

accommodate student and teacher needs? -

- In the article, it reveals that most students don’t learn in the

classroom, instead they learn more while in groups or on a trip. It

shows that if you engage the students more with different

locations and let them work together, they can get a lot more

done.

- This website incorporates different technologies and equipment to allow for the students to learn. Some examples include:

- The desk allows for the students to work individually or in groups

- The shelves allow for the teachers to organize supplies. It maximizes efficiency, because people don’t need to spend time searching for supplies.

 Think About:

1) Have you seen any other classrooms that you liked or did not

like. Why?

 - This classroom, has a large architectural feel. There are pillars

and rafters to represent architecture. Also, there is space for people to draw their ideas for buildings and a place where you can design it. There is also a front board for teachers to put up ideas for inspiration and use it to teach. Allows for creativity to flourish and is innovative for combining a classroom with a work room.

  2) Does your new classroom need to look like the same typical

classroom? What other classroom spaces around the world are

inspiring and interesting? - The classroom does not need to look like a

traditional classroom. Some examples of interesting classrooms

around the world: 1)

3) Will this classroom replace your existing classroom or become an

addition to a different part of the building? Will it be built in an empty

lot or space? Will it be underground or built on the roof? You decide. -

Our new classroom will replace our current classroom. We hope to

implement it into the current architecture classrooms. The different

ideas, like the screens and the tables can be put into the room.

Furthermore we’ll have to clean out the existing furniture that we don't

need from the room.
