Organisation At a Glimpse

Scheduled Caste & Tribes Education, Economic and Life Trust (STEEL Trust) which is

serving for the upliftment of the weaker section has been promoted since 2010. It has done many

programs including sporadically in a small manner with initiative. Now the trustees felt the need

and importance for its legal status to expand its intensive service activities. The Founder and

Managing Trustees of STEEL TRUST namely Mr. Sadayandi – an experienced persons on Health

and Education Development and wishes to communicate the society with greater confidence to do the

service to the people in need and promote awareness and action efforts for their wholistic

development.

Our Mission

Form groups of women SHGs, Awareness to Environmental Protection And Biodiversity conservation,

Training to enhance the rural youths for self employable and sustained life style, and advocate with

CBO’s and other Stakeholders to ensure access to Education, Health, Employment and Social

inclusion and to promote advocacy to bring about positive change in their lives.

Activities of the trust:

Formation of group’s women SHGs in rural areas.

Conducting Awareness to School Students on Environment and Biodiversity conservation

Assisting youths for education, livelihood activities and for their employment.

Awareness on prevention of diseases to the community, especially to pregnant women.

Provision of rehabilitation services for differently able person.

Providing awareness and leadership training to members of the trust.

Any activity that will promote the welfare and rights of the need person. Our Target Area:

STEEL TRUST is working in the admin Blocks like, Bodinayackkanur, Thevaram, Chinnamanur and

some places in Theni Corporation in Theni district, Tamilnadu. It is working with the population

covered about 1, 86,500 spreader over including the 136 villages panchayats are engaged in the

activities of our organisation.

Free Toilets Construction – IHFL Clean India Program

Under the eminent support of the IHFL through the promotion of Clean India Program

awareness that our STEEL Trust has took a special initiative on to promote the Sanitation &

Hygininc villages in the working area constructed the Toilets to the remote village families.

This program was facilitated the Toilet and lavatory facilities to the individuals in the working

villages of our STEEL Trust and our organisation has constructed the Individual Toilets to

the selected beneficiaries. About 33 numbers of families were selected in and around of

working villages in Theni district and our Trust have constructed the Toilets with quality

construction materials as per the norms given by the IHFL - Clean India Program. The

financial support was provided through the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) of

Theni District through the monitoring and supervision by the Block Development Officers

(BDO) of the respective blocks at where the program was implemented.

This program enables the working community, the beneficiaries to use the safe and clean

toilet facilities in their household premises and would involve in doing their responsibilities

on promoting Clean and Greener environment. It also creates awareness among the rural

village public and children on Sanitation & Hygienic living environment.

Women SHGs Formation & Trainings

STEEL TRUST believed that the women

are the vital part of the living society and

continuing its service performances on the

field of women development and

approaching welfare activities centered

with women participants. For achieving

this we have formed them in to self help

groups. Every year we have organised

new self help groups among the disadvantaged women community and make them to use our

beneficiaries for their sustainable living. These woman SHG members were supported

through development trainings on accounts and book keepings, group organisation and

management, motivational training and economical development training. This sangam

meeting was regularly organized by the cluster level initiatives at periodical intervals. This

meeting monitors the performance activities, loan repayment capacity, involvement of

members and local issues and problems. This can educate the members in the groups on

accounts and book keeping procedures maintenance of minute’s books etc., facilitated them

on realising power of Unity & Strength, created cohesiveness within the women and makes

their collective efforts for their women community as well as social development.

Civic Governance to PRI Women SHG Programs

Our STEEL TRUST highly believed the functioning works of the Three tire system of

government which is declared by Mahatma Gandhi for ensuring the social justice and peace

to every citizen in India. The Three Tire system covers the all the functional aspects of

implementation of any of the Government Welfare Scheme benefits to the Public started

from District Administration, Routed through Block Level Cluster Office (Taluk Office) and

reached to the Panchayat Level / Village Administration (i.e the Panchayat Raj Institutions).

By this every citizen in India can avail the endless benefits of the welfare programs of both

state and central government through Civic Governance activation. We are creating PRI

Awareness on the working villages in Theni District. Our organisation encouraged the

marginalized people to participate in Panchayat Raj – the Local Civic Governance activities

through conducting Trainings etc.,

Awareness on Bio Gas Production to Farmers

This year our STEEL Trust was conducted the special awareness program on the Bio Gas

Production and Usage. This awareness was given about 35 Farmers in our working villages.

The resource persons were supported through the Tamilnadu Agricultural University &

Research Station (TNAU & RS) in Coimbatore district. During the program the resource

persons were provided guest lectures and awareness on Bio Gas, preparation methods of Bio

gas and how the cow dunk uses for preparing the renewable energy sources.

The Bio gas is a eco friendly, economically viable fuel through which the farmers and their

families were supported by it for daily cooking and minimising the cost of fuel purchase etc.,

The resource person have demonstrated the preparation method of Bio Gas and its various

techniques involved on it. Our Founder and Managing Trustee have a special discussion with

the resource team and experts to develop a demonstration Unit of Bio-Gas Production unit in

our working area.

Women Legal Issues and Awareness Camps

Our STEEL TRUST has conducted a special awareness program on Women’s Rights

Awareness to the rural women community living in the working area. The purpose of this

awareness program is to create awareness on Women Rights, Constitutional Guarantees of

the women, etc., This program facilitates the rural poor women victims, to come forward to

understand their roles and participating in prevention of atrocities and violence against

women. Further this program promotes the awareness on Domestic violence against women

and constitutional guarantees of women, women rights and Law for prevention of women

from domestic Violence Act 2005 etc., and understanding their rights and the ways to access

it through their collective efforts. A special registers will also be maintained for registering the

cases related to women issues and the follow-up activities in the upcoming days.

Free Note Books Distribution to poor School students

Our STEEL TRUST knows well that the children are the future society and it is our

responsibility to provide complete, comprehensive and intensive, quality education to the

children at the schooling will help to provide potential human resources to the upcoming

society. Hence we decided to provide educational assistance to the poor school going

children to continue their schooling by providing free educational materials and teaching aids

and we have distributed free note books and teaching materials to school students at the age

group of 8-11 yrs old.

This programme is mobilized the resources from the community level and assisting the rural

poor children for their educational development and also the major philanthropist donor also

supported this program with necessary equipments and financial supports. Over 25 students

from poor and disadvantaged community in the working area and nearby urban slum area are

benefited by these materials. This year we have provided scholarship and educational

assistance to 8 poor students who are studying in primary and high schooling in local schools.

EDP & Skill Training to Rural Women

One of the main objectives of our STEEL TRUST is to promote the economical

empowerment among the rural women masses. For promoting it, our organization makes

them to achieve themselves through the locally based available resources and collective

efforts. This year we have conducted a special Skill Development Training on Tailoring and

Fashion Designing to the unemployed women in the working area. Resource persons were

provided the sessions on the Basics of Tailoring, Stitching methods, History of cloths,

ornamentation works on fabrics and readymade garments Aari, Zardosi works, making

fashion designing works on readymade cloths etc., This EDP and Skill Development

Training provided the various methods of Modern Dress making, Ornamental designs on

Garments and success women entrepreneur, leadership qualities, and marketing assessment

etc., This helped to improve their skills on trade based trainings and would provide

economical gain through establishing their trade on this activity in future. Over 25 women in

the working area were attended this EDP & Skill Development training for 3 days and they

have developed their skills and entrepreneurial activities on Modern Dress making and

tailoring. By this training program they got knowledge exposures on several issues and how

they earn income that enhance their family’s economical condition.

Health Awareness on RCH/RSH to Adolescents Girls Program

To promote the rural women’s health and creating awareness on rural women’s health issues

our STEEL TRUST has conducted a special awareness meeting to the rural Adolescent girls

and women SHG members. This Awareness program conducted for 46 beneficiaries having

knowledge exposure on reproductive child health, personal hygiene, skin disorders, family

health, child care, and home based remedial measures. Resource persons from health

department and medical professional were conducted the guest lectures and sessions on:

Pandemic disease, vulnerability, Stigma against HIV/AIDS. Care and support procedures for

PLWAs Safe sex practices, counselling the Eligible couples etc., further they have explained

the details of STD, RTI and STI, Menstrual hygiene and Personal hygiene etc.,
