He said the government wasable to bring development to alllevels in the country, includingin Sarawak, now due to unity androbust economic growth.

Mohamad Zabidi said thiswhen closing the Public ServiceDepartment Programme (JPA4U)at Ayai Sawing longhouse in

Lubuk Kuini, Sungai Saeh Putih,Niah recently.

On the Dayaks, he said their'open attitude, especially those ofthe Ibans in the longhouses, wasa fine example of the'lMalaysia'concept.

"It has been proventhat everycommunity of different religion,race and culture is able to worktogether in celebrating Gawai, andto be involved in any programmewithout any problem."

He thus hoped racial unity inthe state would continue to bepreserved.

JPA4U was held to bring civilservants closer to the people andto enlighten the people about theservices and assistance offered byvarious government departmentsand agencies.

Similarly, he said, civil servicereformation can only succeedwith effective implementation,which is best reflected throughdaily performance.

Meanwhile, queried on thereshuffling of functional workpositions which involved morethan 30,000 in the civil service,

Zabidi stressed that existing staffis being redeployed to differentdepartments to make good use oftheir expertise.

"Every civil service job isimportant to the governmentdepartmentsr" he added.

The one-day seminar whichwas attended by Federal secretaryof Sarawak, Datuk Md YahayaBasimin and Sarawak StateDevelopment Department officerDato' Kamal Husin; saw over500 civil servants from variousdepartments attending theseminar.
