BISD First Week - High School ● August 31st is the first week of school● If you chose Virtual Learning, your whole week will be virtual learning● If you chose On-Campus, you will have a mix of Virtual and On-campus days,

with full On-Campus learning beginning September 8th○ This allows us to bring small groups of students in and practice protocols and

procedures○ More information on the Virtual schedules during these days will be coming ○ More information on providing Chromebooks for those who don’t have them will be

coming○ Normal start and end times will take place on the days of On-campus○ Normal busses will take place on the days of On-campus○ Note: This is a normal school day, and the new policies and procedures for visitors,

etc. will be followed

High School Schedule for BISD First Week ● Knowing that 9th grade may need more support with protocols and procedures, they are

being asked to attend in person more frequently the week of August 31st.

● Students park in the front of the campus only● Drop-Offs only in the main drive in the front of the campus● Front - Main entrance and Arena Entrance (doors open at 8:15am)● Students to cafeteria, learning center or arena (Staff monitor)

to class

Dismissal

All exits available to expedite students exiting the building

Staggered release

● 4:10 - Upstairs C & D Halls● 4:13 - Downstairs C & D Halls● 4:15 - B & E Halls

Pick-up can be in front and rear for dismissal at the end of the day

All staff encourage students to exit building immediately to minimize loitering

Students with “outs” depart campus immediately through front entrances upon start of “Out Period”

Lunch Breakfast & Lunch

● Tables spread out in cafeteria, arena entrance, B Hall, hallways around courtyard and learning center adhering to spacing guidelines with maximum capacity of 500 in all spaces

● Tables limited to four chairs per table adhering to spacing guidelines● Students may eat in the Learning Center - 2 per table● If overflow, may eat in the arena - Every other row and 6 ft spacing● Distancing in lunch lines - tape on floor to designate spacing-staff monitor● Students wear masks until they begin eating - mask once eating is complete● Staff patrol and monitor to ensure seating, distancing and masking● Family members bringing meals will not be allowed to enter the main office.

Meals will be left on table in the vestibule entry. Names should be written on meals prior to drop-off. Students may retrieve during lunch.

Movement in the Building

Passing periods and transitions

● Students in the main hallway (A Hall) walk only in clockwise direction around the Learning Center to minimize contact

● Staff stationed to ensure correct flow of students● Crossover upstairs clockwise ONLY from C Hall to D Hall ● No crossover upstairs D Hall to upstairs C Hall -students follow clockwise

direction around Learning Center as stated above (staff monitor)● Students walk on the right side of each hallway with classrooms, crossing

over when at the classroom (signs to reinforce)

● Students not permitted to loiter in hallways or common areas - move directly to next class (Signage to remind)

● Students out of class without a pass will be escorted back to class● Vending machines not available outside of student’s lunch period

Elevators

● Students designated with a sticker on Student ID to ensure permission to ride

● Occupancy limited during pass periods- staff assist in regulating number of students

● Student reminders to wash hands - signs to reinforce● Hand sanitizer available upon return to classroom

● Standardized Dress is waived for the 2020-2021 school year. Students should adhere to dress code in the student handbook

● Sponsor/Coach will give details on protocols and guidelines ● Sponsor/Coach will share information regarding supplies for the course.

● Some CTE electives can be completed virtually, but may have a need or benefit to students to be on campus to perform necessary skills for the course

Offered before or after school

● All meetings will take place virtually as much as possible● Any in person meetings will be in larger areas, will maintain social distancing

protocols and will be limited in frequency (must be approved by administration prior)

● Flyers for meetings, recruitment or elections posted in school and shared digitally on website and social media

Please know that COVID - 19 is a fluid situation and guidelines and procedures may change as the

guidelines and requirements are updated. Our campus will be following all CDC and TEA guidelines. Those
