The Fall Flatlander Classic drew nearly 100 race cars to the Sherman County Speedway for the two nights of racing on Sept. 24 and 25. On Saturday all the race drivers were introduced and the Sherman County Racing Association season track champions were announced. Winning the track championships for the season were Nate Moore of Great Bend in the IMCA Modifieds, Nick Tubbs of Colby in the IMCA Stock, Cody Pancake of Sharon Springs in the IMCA Hobby Stock, Matthew Crowell of Goddard in the IMCA Sport Modifieds and Jeff Tubbs of Colby in the Econo class. On Friday the Econo class ran with Jeff Tubbs (37X) winning the final race of the year. Coming in second was Jory Friesen (16) who finished 14th in the season point standings. Third place was Chad Normandin (00.1) who was sixth in the season point standings. In the IMCA Modifieds Will Brack (15W) had a clean sweep winning the ‘A’ feature both nights. Second in the feature on Friday was Matt Brack (16M) and John Hansen (8H) was third. Dominic Ursetta (6U) was second on Saturday and Matt Brack (16M) finished third. Nate Moore (7L), the season track champion finished 13th on Friday. In the IMCA Stock Class Nick Tubbs (95T), the season track cham- pion, was the winner on both nights. Brack won the Modi- fied ‘A’ Feature race both nights of the Flatlander Fall Classic rac- es at Sherman County Speed- way. During one of the Modified preliminary races one car (8 right) spun out in turn four and left a cloud of dust as he hit a pile of tires on the corner of the rodeo arena. The car had to be towed off with a front wheel problem. Photos by Tom Betz The Goodland Star-News 16th Annual Northwest Bike Show draws good numbers Numbers were down for the 16th annual Northwest Kansas Bike Show Saturday as part of the Flat- lander Festival, and organizers said it was a good show. The bike show posthumously honored Larry Milke, 60, a longtime Goodland bike enthusiast who died in January as Grand Marshal. The bikers had a great time and the parade Saturday night was a high- light for the many people who lined the streets to watch the bikes and the cars. This was about the fourth year the cars have joined in the parade. Winners in the bike show were announced Saturday evening dur- ing the dinner at the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The best engine award went to Ron Vidas and Tim Shock of Good- land for their 1965 Harley Davidson Panhead. The best paint award went to Ron- nie Hoeffler of McClave, Colo. for his 2003 Thunder Mountain Custom.. The Brick Top Cruisers pick was Kevin Giedd of Burlington for his 1916 Harley Davidson. Fall Flatlander Classic races thrill crowd
Will Brack (15W above) worked to pass another car in a IMCA Modifieds preliminary race on Saturday. Brack won the Modi-fied ‘A’ Feature race both nights of the Flatlander Fall Classic rac-es at Sherman County Speed-way. During one of the Modified preliminary races one car (8 right) spun out in turn four and left a cloud of dust as he hit a pile of tires on the corner of the rodeo arena. The car had to be towed off with a front wheel problem.

16th Annual Northwest Bike Show draws good numbersNumbers were down for the 16th
annual Northwest Kansas Bike Show Saturday as part of the Flat-lander Festival, and organizers said it was a good show.
The bike show posthumously honored Larry Milke, 60, a longtime Goodland bike enthusiast who died in January as Grand Marshal.
The bikers had a great time and the parade Saturday night was a high-light for the many people who lined the streets to watch the bikes and the cars. This was about the fourth year the cars have joined in the parade.
Winners in the bike show were announced Saturday evening dur-ing the dinner at the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The best engine award went to Ron Vidas and Tim Shock of Good-land for their 1965 Harley Davidson Panhead.
The best paint award went to Ron-nie Hoeffler of McClave, Colo. for his 2003 Thunder Mountain Custom..
The Brick Top Cruisers pick was Kevin Giedd of Burlington for his 1916 Harley Davidson.
The Best of Show was Kevin Giedd of Burlington for his 1916 Harley Davidson.
