Our executive team is moving stadler forward!after being both President of the Board of Directors and group ceO for 30 years, Peter spuhler transferred operational management to his long-term deputy, thomas ahlburg on January 1, 2018. this will allow the Owner and executive chairman to concentrate fully on the further strategic development of the company. His focus is on product development, estab-lishing and growing joint ventures with local added value, and is responsible for all “merger and acquisition” projects. this new division of responsibilities also allows him to dedi-cate himself more to customer care. as group ceO, thomas ahlburg will lead the entire group. thanks to the experience gained in the course of his career, he has a wealth of professional expertise and having served as the long-term deputy of Peter spuhler, ensuring stability and continuity in management. the Board of Directors, group Management and employees have full confidence in thomas ahlburg.
through 2017, stadler has continued its im-pressive growth and now has 14 production and engineering sites, over 30 service locations, with the number of employees having increased to over 7600. all stadler employees are united in the goal of producing vehicles tailored to the needs of each client, getting them on the track and ensuring maximum availability of the roll-ing stock.
We are particularly proud of our comprehensive range of vehicles, with high-speed and intercity trains, regional and rapid suburban commuter rail, underground trains, tram trains and pas-

senger carriages. the acquisition of the factory in Valencia has allowed stadler to complement its portfolio with the addition of high-quality mainline locomotives and shunters for freight traffic. a matter of particular importance at stadler is the “tailor-made” market sector. Not only is this where stadler’s roots are, but tailor-made is an important pillar, constituting 15% of our revenue, and growing. and in the cog rail business in particular, our position remains outstanding: stadler is the undisputed global leader.
together with the President of the swiss con-federation, Doris Leuthard, we celebrated the roll-out of the high-speed train sMiLe for sBB in May 2017. in 2018, we will push on with the development and construction of railway vehicles, vehicles that are already the inter- national benchmark for performance, safety, reliability and comfort. in the process of further internationalization, we are building in switzer-land and abroad: a new double-decker com-petence centre in st. Margrethen, switzerland, a new assembly plant in salt Lake city, usa, and a new maintenance plant in Kirkdale/ Liverpool, uK.
innotrans, the world’s largest railway vehicle exhibition, held annually in Berlin, will open its gates in september 2018 with stadler present-ing seven different trains and locomotives, all of which include state-of-the-art advancements. an experience attendees will never forget!
