2. Life in South Africa

  • St. Julia was born to noble parents in South Africa.
  • The city she was raised in was conquered by barbarians when she was a child. She was sold as a slave to a pagan merchant Ebiscus.

3. Slave Life

  • Slave life was hard. She was ripped away from her parents and never saw them again. She was a good slave and took all her jobs seriously and did them with joy. Her master was very nice to her.

4. Conquered

  • The city she was raised in was conquered by barbarians when she was a child. She was sold as a slave to a pagan merchant Ebiscus.

5. Slave Life and how it effected her life

  • St. Julia prayed frequently and she was happy. She had many chores, but always made time for God. She did things such as praying and reading the bible.

  • St. Julia wanted to focus her life on God instead of the work she had to do.

7. Fasting

  • St. Julia fasted all her life since she was a slave also she prayed often. She devoted her life to God also.

8. Going to France.

  • One dayEbiscus and Julia were going to France. It was a very long trip that lasted many days.

9. The festival.

  • On the way to France they stopped at a pagan festival, which she refused to take part in. The pagan governor was very insulted. Her master tried to defend her and after see how noble she was the governor wanted her as a slave. Her master refused to sell her.

10. Her death

  • While Ebiscus was asleep the pagan governor tried to make her sacrifice to the gods and was offered to be set free if she did , but she said no. the pagan governor in rage ripped the hair off her head had her struck on the face with a whip and had her hung on a cross were she died. Her feast day is May 23.
