From the Pastor Dear Parishioners : Christmas, indeed, is filled with contradictions. Descended from the royal house of David, Jesus is born in a manger. Acclaimed by the angelic choirs, and shepherds are the ones who visit him in the dark. Having all power, wisdom, might, and strength, however, He is born in poverty on the fringes of the city. Surprisingly enough, that is how God decided to enter into our human history, and that is how He always enters into our lives. It is unimaginable to us that the Savior of the world is found in a manger as God becomes human, one with us. This is how salvation comes about: Divinity is wed to humanity. Certainly, it is not the human logic that unveils the mystery of salvation but the gift of faith. The wisdom of faith gives our humanity the ability to discover the divine intervention in all events. Faith transcends what reason is sometimes unable to describe in words. That is why the birthday of Jesus is more of an opportunity to contemplate and meditate since prayer is the food for a soul which is thirsty for the divine. As I celebrate my first Christmas here at St. Stephen, I want to thank you for the gift of who you are in the dedication and support to your parish. May the celebration of the nativity of our Lord bring you the love of God to be shared with your family and friends now and at the coming end of this year. I want to thank you for your continued generosity through the Christmas collection, and on behalf of my staff, I wish you Merry Christmas filled with blessings to all. In Jesus and Mary,

Gift Cards for the Poor Due to the success of our St. Stephen’s Table, we have many new faces who come to our door asking for help. Over the past year, we have almost doubled the amount of gift cards we give to the poor each month. However,
our poor box donations have remained the same.
If you are willing to make a monetary donation to be used to purchase gift cards for the poor, please place your
donation in an envelope marked “Gift Cards for the Poor” and drop it in the collection
basket. Thank you for your continued support to those in need.
