May 19th, 2019—Fifth Sunday of Easter

Grateful, as a parish, for being

under the protecting wing of

Archangel Raphael through the years.

FROM THE PASTOR… Dear Parishioners, This weekend is a busy ―sacramental‖ one in our parish.

This past Friday, Bishop Raymond Chappetto conferred Confirmation here, not only on our candidates, but also on Queen of Angels’ candidates (plus one from St. Teresa’s). We will list the names of our newly confirmed in next week’s bulletin.

This Sunday we celebrate First Communion at our 11 am English and 12:30 pm Spanish Masses. We will likewise list these names in the next bulletin.

We congratulate, not only the recipients of these sacraments, but also their parents and fami-lies for following through with the promise they made to God at their child’s baptism. Keep these girls and boys / young women and men on the right path!

Because next weekend is the Memorial Day weekend, today concludes our Religious Educa-tion program for this pastoral year. We thank Sister Christine and her dedicated band of catechists (teachers) and helpers for all their ministry for and with the children.

The Diocese has informed us about a personalized text-message scam ―signed‖ with the full name of the ―pastor‖. It goes something like this: ―RECIPIENT’S FIRST NAME, I need a favor from you, please text me back as soon as possible.‖ - PASTOR’S FULL NAME

Receiving a reply, the texter speaks of some cancer patients who need gift cards and re-quests that the recipient get involved and support the cause. If you want info about the scam, check out the following: https:www.consumeraffairs.com/news/new-phishing-scam-uses-church-pastors-names-as-bait-031919.html

This is really out there ( I personally got one– in the form of an email— from an out-of-state ―deacon‖— it began: ―I need a favor from you…‖). Beware!

We had our church carpets professionally shampooed this past week. It’s an expensive-but- necessary job. To protect our floor covering, please use the wiper mats at the doors (especially in inclement weather) and (it should go without saying, but it doesn’t) refrain from bringing food and liq-uids into the church. Thank you. ` -Father Jerry Jecewiz

Bishop Mugavero Residence for infirmed clergy;

Futures in Education Scholarship Foundation
