This month, we recall how short our lives are on this earth, & we remember those who have died. We pray for all those who have died this past year, and all those names inscribed on the banner by the baptismal font. These people will be remembered, in prayer, every day at Mass. You will also see 14 candles lit by the altar to remember our parishioners who have died this past year. These candles will stay in front of the altar during the whole month of November & will be distributed to family members of the deceased. If any family would like additional candles, they will be $5 each, & can be ordered through the office. We would like to thank Bergseth Brothers Brewery of Fargo for donating the banners.

Marian Consecration Starting Nov. 4 and ending on Dec. 8 on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Traditionally we would have the consecration acknowledged at Mass Dec. 7th & 8th but with Fr. Pfeifer away on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, he will not be here this year! We encour-age you to do a private 33 day consecration this year, and to take some time on Dec. 8th to consecrate yourself in a private way at the church. (Books are available for purchase in the office for $10)
We continue to pray that those men and women who
are called to the priesthood and religious life will be
open to the call and hear
the voice of the Lord, and
respond to Him with gen-
erous hearts willing and
able to serve our LORD! When he reached the place, Jesus looked up and said, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly, for today I must stay at your house.” And he came down quickly and received him with joy. –Lk 19:5-6
November is the month of the Holy Souls Why pray for those who have died?
Even when someone dies in a state of grace (that is, in a fundamentally sound relationship to God), there may still be excess spiritual "baggage" in his or her life. He/She may hold an unresolved grudge or they may yet struggle with jealousy. While these imperfections have not de-stroyed their relationship with God, they still are inhibiting factors which must be resolved prior to their complete en-joyment of life with God in Christ. Thus, purgatory gives us such an opportunity. Purgatory, is state of post mortem purification, which exist; and it is of benefit to those souls who are experiencing purification that we remember them in prayer, particularly at the Eucharistic celebration. Inas-much as we encourage others to pray for us in this life, it only makes sense that we can hope for their prayerful sup-port after we die. Essential to the Catholic understanding of the Church is the doctrine of the communion of saints: we share a "connectedness" or fellowship which trans-cends death. And so while I can pray for someone's strug-gles in this life, I can surely do so for them after death.
31st Sunday in Ordinary Time
Seven Sisters Apostolate
One Holy Hour, One
Priest, Each Week,
One Heart of Prayer The Seven Sisters Apostolate is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a holy hour is prayed each day of the week for the sole intention of Fr. Pfeifer. This offering is a “lavishing of prayer” (Mt 26:10) for his deeper conformity to Christ. This work of prayer can begin when seven women commit to pray one holy hour, each on a different day of the week. The women who participate in this apostolate make this commitment for one year.

In today’s gospel, we meet Zacchaeus. He is the chief tax collec-tor, so it is likely that much of Zacchaeus’ wealth was acquired from less-than-honest activities. The encounter with Jesus changes his life. Zacchaeus repents of his ways & makes reparations. He is on a new path, the path to salvation. Do we need to do the same?
