eSt. Peter Roman Catholic Church Mission Statement
Our mission is to proclaim the Kingdom of God by living
the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Word, Sacrament, and
Service as taught by the Roman Catholic Church. St. Peter
Parish is a community of dedicated Catholics centered on
the Eucharist, which is the source and the summit of all
that we do and hope to become.
PARISH SACRAMENTS
SACRAMENT OF THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST
As a parish, the Holy Sacrifice of the
Mass is central to who we are and what we do.
Normal Mass Times are listed on the front of the bulletin. Please contact the office for special Mass
times during Lent and Holy Days of Obligation. To
receive your First Holy Communion, contact the Parish Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION Essential to the Christian Life, the
Sacrament of Confession is where we come into
contact with Christ who wishes to heal and bless us.
Regular Confession is an integral part of practicing
our Faith and experiencing the peace and joy of a personal relationship with Jesus. 30 minutes before
every Mass, the Sacrament of Confession is offered.
If you need to receive the Sacrament of Confession for the first time, contact the Parish Office, 896-
9408.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Through the waters of Baptism, the new
Christian enters the Church and is given Eternal Life. If you would like to have your infant baptized,
please contact the Parish Office at least 2-4 months
prior to the baby’s due date so that there is enough time to complete preparation for the Sacrament.
Parents should be registered,
participating members of the Parish Family. Candidates for Sponsors (Godparents) should be
attending Mass regularly. Both parents and sponsors
will attend a Baptismal Seminar before they receive the Baptismal Packet which must be received before
an approved date is scheduled.
If you are a parent or an adult seeking the Sacrament of Baptism, please contact the Parish
Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE In the beginning, God created mankind
as one, male and female. Christ elevated this union to the level of a Sacrament, an image of His own love
for His Bride, The Church. Our Parish Family is
made up of many beautiful marriages who enrich the Church and the world. Couples discerning the
vocation of Holy Matrimony should contact the
Parish Office to begin the journey of preparing for their new life together no later than 6-9 months prior
to the desired wedding date.
SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK AND FUNERAL/BURIAL
ARRANGEMENTS The Church and her Sacraments accompany us at every moment of our life. When
we are very sick or nearing the end of this life, we
receive the healing of Christ through Anointing of the Sick. Please contact the Parish Office, 896-9408,
to make an appointment.
Also, contact the office before you contact anyone else in making funeral arrangements.
We will lovingly guide you through that most
difficult time.
NEW PARISHIONERS WELCOME Please fill out a census card (located near the doors
of the church), call the Parish Office or register

to the Blessed Virgin Mother, intercede for us as a parish community to remain always trusting and faithful to the will of God in our lives. FAITH FORMATION: May families preparing their child to receive the Sacrament of Baptism be given the guidance of the Holy Spirit so as
to know how to lead their child in the active practice of the Faith amidst the challenges of the world. EVANGELIZATION: That the celebration of our Nation's independence this month serve as a reminder of the Founding Fathers of our
Nation's intent that God NOT be absent from our lives in the public square. SOCIAL JUSTICE: That Marriage, as an institution of Almighty God between one man and one woman, may be defended and promoted
within the life of the Parish Family and our civil community. BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: In thanksgiving to Almighty God for the generosity of our committed donors who have positioned us to

THE MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD OF JESUS.
The cup of blessing that we bless, is it not a participation in
the Blood of Christ? ~1 Cor 10:16
MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD PRAYER O Almighty and Eternal God, Who hast ransomed the human race by the five wounds of Thy Son, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ: we beseech Thee, by the merits of His precious blood, to grant unto us, who, each day, venerate these same adorable wounds, to be delivered from a sudden and unprovided death: Through the same Jesus Christ Thy Son, Our Lord, Who with Thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth, one God, world without end. Amen.

PRO-LIFE REFLECTIONS
"I shall accept whatever they will do to me provided they save the child.” ~St. Gianna Molla
REFLECTION: In 1962, Saint Gianna Beretta Molla died after giving birth to her fourth child. A physician herself, she understood the risks of her pregnancy, but refused abortion.
Some question her decision, given that she already had three children. However, nothing would have harmed those children more than if she had aborted their sister, and nothing blessed them more than the example of a mother who gave her life for her child.
PRAYER: Saint Gianna, pray for us, that we may imitate your selfless love.

PRAYER FOR THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL
July 16th
O most beautiful flower of Mount Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of Heaven, blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate
Virgin, assist me in this my necessity. Oh, Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein that you are my Mother. O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to succor me in this necessity; there are none that can withstand your power. O show me herein that you are my Mother. Our Lady, queen and beauty of Carmel, pray for me and obtain my requests.
Sweet Mother, I place this cause into your hands.
DID YOU KNOW…
… that our parish is 142 years old and our church building is 112 years old? How old is your home? How many times has it been repaired or remodeled?
… that our church was last remodeled in the late 1940's? The church was bricked, the steeple repaired, confessionals, bathrooms and the porticoes on the south and west side were added during that time.
… that the stained glass windows were redone by parishioners Danny & Mattie Martin beginning under Fr. Down's direction and completed under Fr. Melancon over a period of 5 years.
… that these are the only repairs and remodeling done since the 1940's?

PRAYER INTENTION FOR JULY 2016 The Souls Who Are Detained In Purgatory
Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to you, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated. Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion. Amen.
EXTRAORDINARY JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
December 8, 2015 – November 20, 2016
“IT WILL BE A HOLY YEAR OF MERCY.” ~Pope Francis
“Some people say that sin is an offense to God, but also an opportunity to humble oneself so as to realize that there is something else more beautiful: God’s mercy.”
~Excerpted from: A Year of Mercy: Inspiring Words from Pope Francis
“Through our communion
with Christ we grow in
self-emptying love
that desires to offer
reparation for sinners.
The Eucharist moves us
to an ever-greater thirst
for the salvation of
souls.”
~Kathleen Beckman, God’s Healing Mercy
POPE FRANCIS’ APOSTOLIC EXHORTATION
Amoris Laetitia: On Love in the Family In his groundbreaking work on modern family life, Amoris Laetitia: On Love in the Family, Pope Francis continues to guide and lead the Church, calling us to be a sign of mercy and encouragement for families of all shapes and sizes.
“Surely it is legitimate and right to reject older forms of the traditional family marked by authoritarianism and even violence, yet this should not lead to a disparagement of marriage itself, but rather to the rediscovery of its authentic meaning and its renewal. The strength of the family lies in its capacity to love and to teach how to love. For all a family’s problems it can always grow beginning with love.”
~Pope Francis, Amoris Laetitia
URGENT NEED

“SO YOU COULD NOT KEEP WATCH WITH ME FOR ONE HOUR?”
~MATTHEW 26:40
HOLY YEAR OF MERCY PRAYER
Lord Jesus Christ,
You have taught us to be merciful like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees You sees Him. Show us Your face and we will be saved. Your loving gaze freed Zacchaeus and Matthew from being enslaved by money; the adulteress and Magdalene from seeking happiness only in created things; made Peter weep after his betrayal, and assured Paradise to the repentant thief. Let us hear, as if addressed to each one of us, the words that You spoke to the Samaritan woman: “If you knew the gift of God!” You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the God who manifests His power above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church be Your visible face in the world, its Lord risen and glorified. You will that Your ministers would also be clothed in weakness in order that they may feel compassion for those in ignorance and error: let everyone who approaches them feel sought after, loved, and forgiven by God. Send Your Spirit and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and Your church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor; proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. We ask this of You, Lord Jesus, through the intercession of Mary, Mother of Mercy; You who live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit for ever and ever. Amen.
~Pope Francis
“JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU
Prayer of St. Faustina: "O God, how I desire that souls come to know You and to see that You have created them because of Your unfathomable love. O my Creator and Lord, I feel that I am going to remove the veil of heaven so that earth will not doubt Your goodness. Make of me, Jesus, a pure and agreeable offering before the Face of Your Father. Jesus, transform me, miserable and sinful as I am, into Your own self (for You can do all things), and give me to Your Eternal Father. I want to become a sacrificial host before You, but an ordinary wafer to people. I want the fragrance of my sacrifice to be known to You alone. O Eternal God, an unquenchable fire of supplication for Your mercy burns within me. I know and understand that this is my task, here and in eternity. You Yourself have told me to speak about this great mercy and about Your goodness." (Diary 483)

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in You will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of Your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of Your love enable
them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise You for Your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

We give to the support of the Church, NOT because the Church needs, but because WE NEED to give back to God a thankful share of what He has first given to us!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS AND STEWARDSHIP! BECAUSE OF YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT,
WE HAVE A WONDERFUL PLACE OF WORSHIP.
A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT FIFTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Today’s Gospel turns our attention to one of Jesus’ most familiar stories, the Parable of the Good Samaritan. It is about living how God intended us to live: to acknowledge God’s divine love and compassion lavished upon us, and to extend that love and compassion upon others without reservation. We can find a lot of reasons for not stopping to help someone. We can talk ourselves out of being Good Samaritans. Strangers are not our responsibility, or are they? Good stewards understand that God’s mercy is a gift that must be shared, and that doing the right thing, acting as Jesus would act toward others, is the only course of action for one who lives according to the demands of the Gospel. How might you be a Good Samaritan this week?
ROSARY FOR PEACE The Rosary for peace for our country and our soldiers will be prayed every Thursday before 6:30am Mass.
