Celebrate the Bread of Life! All parishioners are invited to join Father Wencil and our clergy in celebrating the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) by participating in the parish bilingual Eucharistic procession on Sunday, June 7, starting immediately after the 10 AM Mass. We extend a special invitation to First Holy Communicants. Come dressed in your First Communion clothes and bring flower petals! We at St. Paul are excited to promote this centuries-old tradition of the

Church when our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is exposed not just to faithful Catholics but to the entire world. We show our love for Christ by honoring Him in a very public way and we can show our love for our neighbors by bringing Our Lord and Savior closer to them. Please be mindful of our neighbors when parking and consider using the garage on Space Park Drive as parking in the church lot will be limited. Point Lookout Drive will be partially closed down briefly as we process around the front of the church.

In these short 4 weeks your additional donations will help us make an entire month’s payment without use of parish or ministry operational funds. Thank YOU. You reaffirm that we don’t need an ex-pensive Capital Campaign 3 to generate pledges – you are simply and directly taking care of the needs of our church. Please remember that the Finance Council asked that each household participate in this challenge until our debt is paid, and the quicker we pay it the more we save in interest payments which equal $8,000/month or $96,000/year.

Pentecost

The 50 day season of Easter concludes with today's celebration, the feast of Pentecost. On Pentecost we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles gathered in the upper room in Jerusalem; this event marks the beginning of the Church. The story of Pentecost is found in the Acts of the Apostles, today's first reading. The account in today's Gospel, John 20:19-23, also recounts how Jesus gave the gift of the Holy Spirit to his disciples. After his death, Jesus fulfilled his promise to send to his disciples a helper, an Advocate, who would enable them to be his witnesses throughout the world. Today this yearly celebration recalls the present, now-happening, breathing of God’s Spirit among us.

On Memorial Day, we honor the heroes who have laid down their lives in the cause of freedom, resolve that they will forever be remembered by a grateful

nation, and pray that our country may always prove worthy of the sacrifices they have made. On this solemn day our country unites to pay tribute to the fallen, who demonstrated the strength of their convictions and paid the cost of freedom. We pray for the members of our Armed Forces and their families, and we ask for God’s continued guidance of our country. May God Bless You!

Adult Ministry and Faith formation: Because Our Faith is too rich and beautiful to have ever learned it ALL…

Contact Heidi Clark, Director of Adult Ministry, 281.333.3891, Ext. 328 or [email protected]

Adult faith formation at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living “The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and decision. To enable adults to explore the faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have learned along the way.

Marriage Encounter The next Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekend is June 19-21. This is a wonderful weekend away from it all where you get to focus on each other and the love you share. Register early to reserve a spot. Contact Brian and/or Tina Little at 281.773.4014 or go online to houstonme.org.

We need a chef’s toque, a top hat, a fireman’s hat, a motorcycle helmet, a captain’s hat, a fancy Easter hat, a wedding veil, and any other interesting type of hat. Mark it with your name and phone number and we’ll be sure to get it returned to you shortly after our gathering.

Founder of the LEGION OF MARY, Frank Duff

Founder of the Legion of Mary, Frank Duff was born in Dublin, Ireland, on June 7, 1889. He entered the Civil Service at the age of 18. At 24 he joined the Society of St. Vincent de Paul where he was led to a deeper commitment to his Catholic faith and at the same time he acquired a great sensitivity to the needs of the poor and underprivileged.

Along with a group of Catholic women and Fr. Michael Toher, Dublin Archdiocese, he formed the first praesidium of the Legion of Mary on September 7, 1921. From that date until his death, November 7, 1980, he guided the world-wide extension of the Legion with heroic dedication. He attended the Second Vatican Council as a lay observer.

His profound insights into the role of the Blessed Virgin in the plan of Redemption, as also into the role of the lay faithful in the mission of the Church, are reflected in the Legion Handbook which is almost entirely his composition.

Interested in joining the Legion and being part of Mary's army or finding out more about it? Join us on Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in room 1.
