• Later, St. Bishoy’s body moved to Scete without St. Paul

• Boat froze!• Boat moved when St. Paul

placed beside St. Bishoy• The Lord’s promise was

fulfilled

• Book of Joshua – 6th book in Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy)

• Joshua chosen to be Moses’ successor

• 12 spies sent. Only Joshua & Caleb had faith in God.

• Israelites disobeyed God & lacked faith

• Wandered 40 yrs in wilderness

• 40 yrs later , younger generation enters promise land

• Crossing Jordan River• Harvest season - river fiercest & highest• 3 times be STRONG & COURAGEOUS: + “…so I shall be with you. I will not leave

you nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage …” (Joshua 1:5-6)

+ “Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law …” (Joshua 1:7)

+ “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

• Spies sent out, hidden & saved by Rahab the Harlot

• Important - When God promises victory, we still have to do work!

FAITH + WORK = VICTORY !

• Before crossing Jordan, Israelites must be SANCTIFIED!

• What is SANCTIFY? - To be SET APART, to be HOLY - In Old Testament: abstain from certain food, diseases, dead bodies, etc. - God used outward uncleanness to illustrate inward uncleanness of sin- Must approach God with PURE heart

• Why?

FAITH at WORK!

• Why? - To focus on God- A reminder of God’s promise - Encouragement for next task (Jericho)

yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord
