The Bottom Line Humor, like faith, can give form to our vision.

Although we see as “through a glass dimly,” faith gives us the gift of

humor that allows us to smile with our heart and with our face. The

vision is one of peace, one of acceptance and one of grace ---–God-

with-us.

Fr. Ken (continued from front page)

The Missionary Cooperation Program was started by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops as a response to the needs of foreign missions. It is a reminder to all of us that we are responsible for the proclamation of the Gospel to peoples everywhere, in addition to the assisting in social activities that various missionary groups carry out, which help them proclaim the Gospel.

This year, St. Mary, Cause of Our Joy Parish was assigned as our missionary group “The Prelature of Sicuani, Peru”. This prelature, which is headed by Bishop Pedro Bustamante Lopez, is located in the mountainous region of Peru. It is a very poor area. A prelature is an area (a territory) where the church is not yet developed enough to become a diocese, although it is run very much like a diocese.

I have been in contact with representatives from the prelature, first the bishop and then some associates. Our parish mission appeal has been scheduled for the weekend of September 9 and 10. Just recently I was informed that the Brother who was sched-uled to come to speak to us in no longer able to be here and there is no other repre-sentative available to come. I informed them that, due to the circumstances, I would do the “appeal” for them. They have sent me a short video which hopefully we can show that weekend. I ask for your generosity in helping this poor area of Peru. Theirs is certainly a struggle not only to live a decent life despite their poverty, but also to live and preach the Gospel. Even though we will not an “official” representa-tive, we can still respond. We MUST respond. It is our responsibility.

Fr. Ken

MISSIONARY COLLECTION PLEASE remember to be generous in your donation for the missionaries this month. Envelopes are available in the gathering space and at the doors to the church. Thank you
