Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time—20 June 2021

“Through our prayers and through the intercession of St. Joseph, patron of fathers, may fathers come to know the irreplaceable role they hold in the lives of their children, and the responsibility they share in welcoming God’s gift of new life!

Most Reverend Shelton J. Fabre, Bishop of Houma-Thibodaux “Fathers’ Irreplaceable Role in Welcoming Life”

Why do Catholics do that? ~~~~~~~~~

Need to give your prayer life a boost?

~~~~~~~~~
A rich prayer life is the key to happiness in this life and the next. Enriching our prayer is not always about the prayers we say. However, how we approach our time in prayer can be as important.
“Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:11) When we greet a dear friend, we may wave, hug or say, “Hello.” When beginning prayer, start by placing yourself in God’s presence and greet him as a dearly loved one.
Come as you are. God is the only one in our lives with whom we can be completely ourselves. We don’t need to have special clothing, use flowery language, or fold our hands a certain way. For prayer to work, we just have to bring our whole selves. You will be amazed by what He will do with that.
Take time out. “Silence is so lacking in this world which is often too noisy, which is not favorable to recollections and listening to the voice of God” (Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI). Find fifteen minutes you can make silent and place God at the center of your attention.
Don’t stop with prayer. Prayer helps us to learn God’s will for us. When we act in communion with His will, it is then that our whole life becomes a prayer in action.
Information, Activities & Events
St. Magdalen Feast Day
This year marks: the 140th anniversary of
St. Magdalen Parish.
Let’s all make this a special year to celebrate the patroness of our parish and
remember all priests and parishioners from the last 140 years
who have kept our faith family strong.
Do you have ideas on ways to celebrate these milestones? Looking for volunteers to mark this momentous occasion. Please let any parish council member know (see their names on front page of bulletin) or the parish office.
The official feast day of St. Magdalen is July 22nd. Celebration date—to be determined.
St. Magdalen—4th of July Parade
A big thank you goes out to Tina Buhta and Amanda Larson
for leading and organizing St. Magdalen’s involvement in this year’s celebration.
Calling all parishioners —all ages—
—adults & kids— to walk—to ride decorated bicycles
to hand out licorice along the parade route
Note: The parade date is Monday, July 5th. A sign up sheet is in the church lobby.
Please contact Tina at
605-830-5851 for more
information! Thank you!!!
Next week (June 27th), our diocese and parish will take up the Peter’s Pence Collection, which is a way to support the Universal Church and the work of the Holy See, including helping Pope Francis with the funds to carry out his charitable works.
These works benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including war, oppression, and disasters. Please be generous. Peter’s Pence envelopes can be found to the right of the St. Joseph & Child Statue. For more information, visit www.peterspence.va/en.html
