First Reading Isaiah 2: 1-5 A reading from the prophet Isaiah The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, concerning Judah and Jerusalem. In the days to come the mountain of the Temple of the Lord shall tower above the mountains and be lifted higher than the hills. All the nations will stream to it, peoples without number will come to it; and they will say: ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the Temple of the God of Jacob that he may teach us his ways so that we may walk in his paths; since the Law will go out from Zion, and the oracle of the Lord from Jerusalem.’ He will wield authority over the nations and adjudicate between many peoples; these will hammer their swords into ploughshares, their spears into sickles. Nation will not lift sword against nation, there will be no more training for war. O House of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord. This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Responsorial Psalm Response: I rejoiced when I heard them say: ‘Let us go to God’s house.’ I rejoiced when I heard them say: ‘Let us go to God’s house.’ And now our feet are standing within your gates, O Jerusalem. It is there that the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord. For Israel’s law it is, there to praise the Lord’s name. There were set the thrones of judgement of the house of David. For the peace of Jerusalem pray: ‘Peace be upon your homes! May peace reign in your walls, in your palaces, peace!’ For the love of my brethren and friends I say: ‘Peace be upon you!’ For the love of the house of the Lord I will ask for your good. Gospel Acclamation Alleluia, Alleluia! Let us see, O Lord, your mercy and give us your saving help. Alleluia! Gospel Matthew 24: 37-44 A reading from St Matthew’s Gospel Jesus said to his disciples: ‘As it was in Noah’s day, so will it be when the Son of Man comes. For in those days before the Flood people were eating, drinking, taking wives, taking husbands, right up to the day Noah went into the ark, and they suspected nothing till the Flood came and swept all away. It will be like this when the Son of Man comes. Then of two men in the fields one is taken, one left; of two women at the millstone grinding, one is taken, one left. ‘So stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming. You may be quite sure of this that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglar would come, he would have stayed awake and would not have allowed anyone to break through the wall of his house. Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.’ This is the Gospel of the Lord. 1. Come, O Divine MessiahCome, O divine Messiah! The world in silence waits the daywhen hope shall sing its triumph, and sadness flee away.

Sweet Saviour, haste:come, come to earth:dispel the night, and show thy face, and bid us hail the dawn of grace.Come, O divine Messiah! The world in silence waits the daywhen hope shall sing its triumph, and sadness flee away.

O Thou, whom nations sighed for, whom priests and prophets long foretold, wilt break the captive fetters, redeem the long-lost fold.

Shalt come in peace and meekness, and lowly will thy cradle be:all clothed in human weaknessshall we thy godhead see.

2. O come, O comeO come, O come, Emmanuel, and ransom captive Israel, that mourns in lonely exile hereuntil the Son of God appear.

Rejoice! Rejoice!Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, thou Rod of Jesse, freethine own from Satan’s tyranny;from depths of hell thy people save, and give them vict’ry o’er the grave.

O come, thou key of David, come, and open wide our heavenly home;make safe the way that leads on high, and close the path to misery.

3. When is he comingWhen is he coming, when, oh when is he coming, the Redeemer? When will we see him, when, oh when will we see him,the Redeemer?

Come, oh come, from your kingdom up there, from your kingdom up there above!Come, oh come to your people on earth,to your people on earth bring love!Emmanuel! Emmanuel! Emmanuel!

Long years a-waiting,many years here a-waiting the Redeemer!Ready to greet him, always ready to greet him, the Redeemer!

4. When Christ Our Lord...When Christ our Lord to Andrew cried:“Come, thou and follow Me,”The fisher left his net besidethe Sea of Galilee. To teach the truth his Master taught,to tread the path he trodWas all his will, and thus he broughtunnumbered souls to God.

When Andrew’s hour had come, and hewas doomed like Christ to die,He kissed his cross exultingly, and this his loving cry;“O noble Cross! O precious wood!I long have yearned for thee;uplift me to my only goodwho died on thee for me.”

5. O Jesus Christ rememberO Jesus Christ, remember, when thou shalt come again, upon the clouds of heaven, with all thy shining train;when every eye shall see theein deity revealed, who now upon this altarin silence art concealed.

Remember then, O Saviour,I supplicate of thee, that here I bowed before theeupon my bended knee;that here I owned thy presence, and did not thee deny, and glorified thy greatness, though hid from human eye.

6. Abba FatherAbba, Father, send your Spirit!Glory Jesus Christ! (x2)

Glory, hallelujah,glory Jesus Christ! (x2)

2. I will give you living water...3. If you seek me you will find me...4. If you listen you will hear me...5. Glory, Father, glory Spirit...

7. SanctusHoly, Holy, Holy!My heart, my heart adores you.My heart is glad to say the wordsyou are Holy Lord.

In God’s name is comingthe one whom we call blessed.Hosanna in the highest, praise and thanks to God.

8. Jesus, name above all namesJesus, name above all names, beautiful Saviour, glorious Lord.Emmanuel, God is with us,blessed Redeemer, living Word.

In my life Lord, be glorified, be glorified. In my life be glorified today.

In my work Lord...In my song Lord...

Jesus, name above all names, beautiful Saviour, glorious Lord.Emmanuel, God is with us,blessed Redeemer, living Word.

9. Awake from your slumberAwake from your slumber!Arise from your sleep!A new day is dawningfor all those who weep. The people in darknesshave seen a great light. The Lord of our longinghas conquered the night.

Let us build the city of God,may our tears be turned into dancing. For the Lord our light and our lovehas turned the night into day.

We are sons of the morning;we are daughters of day.The One who has loved ushas brightened our way.The Lord of all kindnesshas called us to bea light for his peopleto set their hearts free.

DE PROFUNDISOur of the depths, I have cried to thee, O Lord;Lord, hear my voice.Let thine ears be attentiveto the voice of my supplication. If thou, O Lord should mark iniquities;Lord, who shall endure it?For with thee there is merciful forgiveness;and by reason of thy lawI have waited for thee, O Lord.My soul hath relied on his word;my soul hath hoped in the Lord. From the morning watch even until night, let Israel hope in the Lord.Because with the Lord there is mercy, and with him plentiful redemption. And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.

Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon them.May they rest in peace. Amen.
