THE BEATITUDES "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you falsely because of me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven.”
SEMINARIAN EDUCATION FUND Next weekend there will be a collection for the Seminari-an Education Fund. The fund helps cover the cost to ed-ucate each Archdiocesan seminarian. Our seminarians invest their time, talent and their own treasure to answer God’s call. Give a gift of education to the next generation of priests. You can also give online at www.archchicago.org/seminarianfund.

SHEDSOMELIGHT Christ Our Savior Catholic School
BE THAT BEACON OF LIGHT FOR OUR STUDENTS The theme of the Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Schools for the 2016-2017 year is “You are the Light of the World.” With that in mind, I would like to share what I consider is the philosophy of our school. Please join me as we keep our teachers and families in prayer this year as they are certainly the “light” paving the way for this generation of students. A Christ Our Savior Catholic School education provides doctrinal instruction, faith formation, liturgical experi-ences and the development of moral values. Our goal is to design and deliver a curriculum that challenges all students to reach their full potential. We recognize that each student is unique and created with dignity and spe-cial gifts, learning in different ways. Our teaching styles address individual learning needs. Our educational pro-gram aims to make each child a lifelong learner and a contributing member of society. Working along with families, we will develop a partnership that encourages academic excellence, faith formation, character develop-ment, evangelization and Christian discipleship. The message of Christ is taught and lived every day.
BOARD OF SPECIFIED JURISDICTION If any parishioner from our six founding parishes is in-terested in joining our Board of Specified Jurisdiction (similar to a school board), please contact me at 708-333-8173 Ext. 24. If you have an interest in Catholic school education, this is a wonderful way to become involved in further developing Christ Our Savior Catholic School. We would like to thank Felicia Horton for the time that she has spent on our Board. Felicia now works for the Archdiocese of Chicago as a Marketing Director for our Vicariate VI as well as Vicariate III.
GARAGE SALE ON THE PARKING LOT The Christ Our Savior Parking Lot Garage Sale will be held on Saturday, September 24 from 9 am until 2 pm. If you are interested in participating or donating some of your former treasures, please contact the school office at 708-333-8173. Because of the wonderful location of our parking lot, we have great attendance at this event!
COS CRAFT FAIR Seeking crafters and vendors for the annual School Craft Fair and Vendor Show. The show will be held on Satur-day, Nov. 12, 2016, in the gym from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fee for an 8 x 8space is $30. Contact Karen Brodzik at 708.333.8173 ext. 24 or at [email protected].
In Christ’s Love,
Karen Brodzik Principal
Stand in Hope
1. We stand in pain and long to see salvation for we have known your comfort and relief. We try again to gain some con-solation but former blessings fade in present grief. Subdue, O God, the torrents of temptation; Redeem our hearts, restore our lost belief.
2. We stand in need of guidance and protection when storms of change obscure our forward path; When fears expand to fan our disaffection, We turn from grace and don the chains of wrath. We close our ears to songs of resurrection while sin un-folds its wretched aftermath.
3. We stand in hope, recounting all your graces, we bless your name, and pray your will be done. Your healing mercy, gentle to embrace us, reveals your love, your own beloved Son. He knows our weakness, all our broken places, and by his death our dying is undone.
4. We walk by faith, a church of peace and pardon, for you, O God, still welcome ev'ry soul, to strive anew to cultivate your garden; Your Spirit warms and waters and makes whole, Re-newing all that pain and sin have hardened. We walk in love, with love our guide and goal.
